The central theme behind today's photoshoot was the thought: "Perhaps humans cannot fly simply because the heart weighs too heavy."
This project lacked a specific anime character anchor, serving instead as a conceptual Japanese style photography and Lolita series. For the wardrobe, I chose an all-white lace dress featuring a high-neck design, billowing flare cuffs along the sleeves, and richly layered ruffled flounces down the skirt, with textiles emitting a soft pearlescent sheen under sunlight. Paired with White stockings, to manifest the overarching theme, I strapped on a pair of massive semi-sheer Angel wings while holding an oversized cross wrapped in flowing crimson satin ribbons.
While the props look ethereal on camera, handling them during the shoot was intensely exhausting. Carrying the wings for extended periods caused severe shoulder fatigue, and while the wooden cross wasn't exceedingly heavy, holding or carrying it aloft in graceful, expansive poses demanded immense core endurance. The lengthy red ribbons were especially unruly; outdoors, even the gentlest breeze sent them fluttering chaotically. To freeze the fluid arc of the ribbons riding the wind while sustaining a detached, aloof gaze, I constantly had to hold my breath in the chilly wind to steady my frame.
Cosmetically, I preserved straight black tresses with blunt bangs, applying a solitary rhinestone beneath the right eye as a crystalline teardrop accent. The eye contours were sculpted with deeper shadows against muted lips, pursuing a serene, doll-like porcelain detachment.
Sunlight was radiant throughout the day. For the opening frames, Monster applied a red-and-blue tint grading that bathed the grassy fields in a surreal, dreamlike coloration with striking visual impact. Cookie mastered the natural lighting, letting dappled sunshine filtering through the leafy canopy dance across my face with brilliant translucency. Daiyu framed my crouching and standing postures alongside staircases and railings, with the final full-length frame beautifully capturing the layered tiers of the white gown and the volumetric scale of the feathered wings.
This collection fuses Japanese style photography with classic Lolita fashion sensibilities, deploying stark red-and-white contrasts and shifting lighting to evoke a subtle, sacred visual tension. Though humanity cannot truly sprout wings to soar, freezing these heavy props and exquisite scenes through the lens is a deeply fulfilling creative pursuit in itself.
