Being an Energetic girl is indeed a required course for the Red Mage. Shooting this Alisaie cosplay this time, I hoped to convey this vibrant trait through the lens. Alisaie in Final Fantasy XIV is a very driven character, so when preparing this costume, I focused on how to make the overall styling look both faithful to the original and full of life.
The details of the costume are extremely rich. This bright red long-sleeved jacket is the core of the overall visual; the gold embroidery on the cuffs and hem has a great reflective effect under the sunlight, requiring constant angle adjustments during shooting to capture that gorgeous feel. The inner black corset tightens the waistline, paired with a white lace short skirt hem, creating a natural wavy feel when walking. For the lower body pairing, I chose white long stockings and black small leather shoes; the black straps at the sock openings echo the black decorations on the skirt hem, which not only increases the layering of the outfit but also makes the leg lines look more slender in front of the lens. Trimming the silver-white wig took a lot of time, especially the iconic ahoge on top of the head, which required a large amount of setting product to keep upright, and the wispy hair at the sideburns had to be treated naturally without looking too stiff.
The preparation of props must not be taken lightly either. Although that sword looks lightweight, it actually has some weight. When performing sword-swinging and spinning actions, core and abdominal strength are needed to control balance so that the movements look smooth and not rigid. The texture of the golden mask is very good; holding it in hand, whether half-covering the face or used as decoration, can enrich the frame nicely.
The shooting location was divided into two parts: indoor and outdoor. On the indoor wooden steps, I lay sideways with the sword placed aside and holding the mask with one hand, wanting to showcase the relaxed state of the Red Mage during a journey, with warmer lighting giving a sense of relaxation. Outdoors, the background was a wall full of blue flowers. To match the theme of Energetic girl, I adjusted my state and incorporated more dynamic poses. For example, the posture in picture two with one leg slightly lifted and the body leaning forward actually tests balance quite a bit, requiring core tightening to stay stable, but shooting it this way brings out a brisk feeling of being ready for battle at any time. The front standing pose in front of the arch in picture three showcases both the sword and the mask, with a firmer gaze reflecting the character's confidence.
In terms of makeup, blue contact lenses are the soul, paired with red-brown shading at the outer corners of the eyes to make the gaze look more spirited. The base makeup was kept as translucent as possible since outdoor shooting tends to cause sweating, so setting work was done thoroughly. The lip color was chosen as an orange-toned red, which harmonized very well with the red jacket in overall tone.
Being able to completely present this Alisaie styling this time, from costume details to action strength, went through repeated adjustments. I hope everyone can feel that unique vigor of the Red Mage through this set of photos. If there is an opportunity in the future, I would like to try more Alisaie in different states.
