Inside the botanical garden greenhouse in late summer Beijing, the sultry air felt so thick it seemed ready to drip. The expansive glass curtain walls were misted with dense beads of condensation, and the ground was dotted with damp puddles—yet this perfectly complemented the sticky, humid summer mood I wanted to convey. For this shoot, I wore a classic white Sailor suit featuring a short-sleeved top and matching pleated skirt, accented with a vibrant red ribbon tie at the neckline, pale blue trim stripes along the hem and cuffs, and an intricate insignia badge on the sleeve. On the bottom, I paired white knee-high socks (White stockings) with black chunky buckle platform loafers for a quintessentially classic JK uniform look.

Specifically for this session, I prepared a clear transparent backpack filled with vibrant green moss and white orchids. It acted as an interactive prop that echoed harmoniously with the hanging flora and potted greenery throughout the conservatory. I also brought along a black leather tote bag adorned with an adorable teddy bear charm, injecting an authentic slice of everyday life into the compositions. Ambient daylight filtered gently through the glass panels and foliage, resulting in soft, somewhat subdued illumination that, together with the mist clinging to the glass, effortlessly cultivated a moist, tranquil, slightly wistful and ethereal atmosphere.

As someone who regularly attends anime conventions and takes on Convention photoshoot bookings, finding a greenhouse location like this in Beijing is truly a rare treat. The perceived temperature was sweltering on the day of the shoot; moving around the conservatory in a sailor suit and knee-high socks quickly brought on a light layer of sweat. Yet that very humidity made the moments captured by the lens feel all the more natural. In composing the shots, I deliberately leveraged reflections in the glass—such as perching sideways over the damp floor holding the transparent terrarium backpack closely. Reflections in the wet glass added spatial depth and visual layering, allowing the otherwise minimalist white uniform to stand out strikingly against the lush green backdrop.

Regarding hair and makeup, to harmonize with the summer greenhouse climate, the base foundation was kept dewy and translucent to prevent melting in the heat. Eye makeup featured defined contours paired with an orange-red lipstick to brighten facial energy, while blunt bangs and long loose waves cleanly framed the face. In posing—whether bending forward holding the black tote or kneeling with the clear terrarium backpack—I focused on letting bodily lines stretch naturally, utilizing the border between the White stockings and miniskirt to elongate leg lines without feeling stiff. This set carries no specific fictional character lore, representing instead a stylistic creative exploration rooted entirely in the botanical greenhouse environment. Freezing this vibrant late-summer greenery and heat amidst shifting patterns of light and shadow serves as a genuine record of my recent convention and photoshoot life.
