Today I'm sharing this finished Lucia cosplay photoshoot from Zenless Zone Zero. The shoot was set in an indoor studio featuring white stone pillars, a fountain, and lush greenery, with beige drapes cascading in the background. The warm yellow ambient lighting perfectly complemented the blue magical effects overlaid in post-processing, making the entire atmosphere feel as if we were genuinely inside a Hollow.
Let me first detail the wearing experience of this outfit. Lucia's attire features a black-and-teal color scheme, where the black parts are primarily made of leather, fitting the theme of a Leather jacket cosplay. While it hugs the body snugly, it lacks breathability, requiring breaks to cool off during a lengthy shoot. Golden metallic buckles accent the chest and sides of the waist, while thigh garters and metal chains serve not only as ornamentation but introduce a subtle restrictive feel when walking—yet this snug tightness actually helped me channel the character's crisp, agile posture. The blue short-haired wig required careful layering, and the pointed elf ears were rather stiff, turning my auricles slightly red after wearing them for a while. The black heeled ankle boots with silver buckles were heavy, but provided great support when on tiptoe or leaping.
Moving on to the props in hand: the top of the staff features remarkably intricate antique-bronze filigree, paired with a metal-edged blue grimoire, requiring considerable arm strength to pose with them in one hand. To recreate the weightless, floating suspension of casting spells as a Magical Girl, I attempted leaps and mid-air freeze frames multiple times. Landing in boots on the studio floor produced loud thuds, but the captured moments held intense visual tension. In addition to dynamic standing poses, I also tested sitting on the moss, half-kneeling while cradling the book, and resting against stone pillars with closed eyes in quiet contemplation, aiming to present Lucia's varied nuances during Hollow exploration.
When coordinating with the photographer, we specifically emphasized the contrast between the cool-toned magical auras and the warm set lighting. Closing my eyes or gazing intently at the staff were intentional choices designed to express deep focus while casting magic. Mentioning Lucia easily brings to mind sheep and the 'DAMIDAMI' meme; she carries an aura that is both enigmatic and endearingly cute. To materialize this 2D magical charm, I incorporated deliberate micro-pauses into my posing rhythms.
From initial fittings to final edits, immense dedication went into this shoot. Performing various motions on the moss in heavy boots consumed substantial physical energy, but seeing the final frame—where cool-toned magic circles swirl amidst a warm sea of blossoms, breathing three-dimensional life into the original 2D design—made every ounce of exhaustion worthwhile. This is precisely why I love cosplay: bringing impossible magic into reality is inherently a journey of overcoming obstacles.
