The planning for the Zenless Zone Zero Vivian cosplay Swimsuit group photoshoot is officially underway. As the weather warms up, we didn't want the shoot to feel too heavy, so we decided to bring the cool summer-concept Vivian look to life. Since her character lore carries strong fantasy elements and cool color palettes, along with pointed elf ears and her iconic umbrella, we spent a lot of time discussing possibilities when integrating the swimsuit style. In the end, we decided to keep black, white, and purple as core colors, paired with lace and sheer tulle materials to capture a translucent atmosphere by the water.

The hardest part of a group shoot is coordinating schedules and calibrating on-site gear. We found an outdoor set with a light-colored sandy beach; the ambient light was naturally warm, which could easily dilute her mysterious aura. To prevent this, we used a light meter beforehand to measure ambient light and ensure clear separation between subject highlights and background layers. Communication regarding costumes and props involved several rounds of refinement with our makeup and hair artist. Her original costume features large areas of white and dark blue; to better fit Vivian's disposition, we introduced subtle breathable design tweaks to the bowknots and straps, ensuring a clean, sharp silhouette on camera rather than a bulky profile.

During Cosplay photography, guiding poses proved to be quite challenging. When holding umbrellas, many cosplayers accidentally let the handle obscure body lines or cover facial features. To avoid awkward cropping in the frame, I intentionally angled the umbrella ribs back and sideways during framing. This preserved her signature umbrella motif while allowing her body contour to look elongated against the canopy. My favorite shot in this set is the turn-of-the-head moment holding the umbrella: because the canopy was wide enough, it provided a fantastic dark background panel that made skin tones look clean and luminous. The subtle tiptoeing posture was designed to increase visual extension, working with high-heel curves to present a more confident standing posture in full-body framing.

Since the concept was anchored in Summer cosplay, the texture couldn't be made too "cold." While the character leans heavily toward an elven aesthetic, to match the lively swimsuit theme, I requested our retouching partner to steer post-processing toward clear, softly pink-tinted color tones. During retouching, we didn't deliberately accentuate "sensual" aspects to pander to general tastes, focusing instead on skin luminescence and three-dimensional accessory detailing. After all, if skin smoothing is overdone on pointed elf ears, they lose crisp contours and flatline character recognition. The single strand of purple hair held its curl perfectly in the ocean breeze thanks to styling spray, which was a huge bonus during real shooting.

During photo selection, after discarding off-composition shots, the remaining frames fully preserved props, makeup, and expressions. We traded our usual outdoor dark-toned grainy aesthetic for soft, high-key illumination to highlight a summer water-play feel. The most rewarding part of a group shoot is always the group energy—passing around fill lights and refining expressions together. Despite wearing intricate lace-up footwear, we tried several balance tests just to freeze-frame that single-leg lift dynamic.

Overall, we didn't overly emphasize making the swimsuit aspect "outrageous," but rather balanced crisp cool elegance with refreshing summer lightness. Whether it was the curvature of the umbrella blown by the wind or the edge light catching her pointed elf ears, every detail strived to align with the visual tension of the Zenless Zone Zero worldview. Instead of exaggerated curves, we focused on standing posture extensions and prop flow. We hope this final project outcome lets everyone feel how crisp and passionate summer ought to be.
