[Yinlin Cosplay] The Glamorous Agent of Wuthering Waves, Straight from Beijing Convention Photos

Convention photos from the ijoy expo at the China National Convention Center in Beijing are finally in hand. Today I'm sharing this Yinlin cosplay work from Wuthering Waves with everyone. From the initial makeup test to the on-site shooting, a lot of thought went into the entire process. Seeing the final cut, I feel that all the preparation was totally worth it.

To recreate the character's glamorous nature, we put a huge effort into the makeup and hair. The layering and high saturation of the red hair are key points. Paired with sharp eyeliner, it allows the gaze to immediately lock in among the lively atmosphere of various convention booths. For the costume, I chose a highly designed black-and-red color-contrasting sleeveless top, combined with red fabric featuring a diamond lattice pattern and tassel charms on the side of the waist. It possesses a modern techwear style while faintly carrying a bit of Chinese charm. The tailor modified the pattern of this piece several times to achieve the current form-fitting effect.

During the live shoot, my photographer friend and I cooperated with excellent tacit understanding. We tried various low-angle upward shooting techniques, utilizing the overhead spotlights at the China National Convention Center hall. While shooting, he would constantly remind me to mind my posture, especially when wearing these transparent platform high heels. Although standing for a long time puts pressure on the soles of the feet, during the transitions between walking, sitting, and half-squatting, as long as you practice the support of core strength and find the center-of-gravity balance, you can express it very gracefully.

For instance, in one of the sitting photos, I placed one hand behind my head, showing a completely defenseless yet highly confident state. Another group of squatting poses adjusted the drop point of the center of gravity, allowing the red ponytail to whip a beautiful curve in the air, which, paired with the claw-like hand movement, made the whole character appear more dangerous and glamorous.

For this set of pictures, I didn't choose particularly exaggerated photo editing, preserving more of the authentic live shoot atmosphere of the convention venue. Some of the visiting audiences in the background were blurred into light and shadow by the lens's large aperture, which beautifully extracted the subject from the exhibition. Whether it's the lazy sitting pose, the display of leg lines, or the floating red hair under the squatting posture, I strove to showcase the character's calm and confident state.

I feel that when replicating this type of cool-style character in reality, the sense of contrast is very important. The venue was actually very lively, but once entering the character, I focused on the gaze and body language, forming a silent understanding with the photographer. The long ponytail and tassel accessories of this styling are perfect for creating a dynamic feel when walking, and I also really love the linear beauty they bring along with changes in body shape. For this cosplay, I hope to convey Yinlin's vibe of 'seemingly casual, but actually having everything under control.' An anime convention is not just a display of costumes, but also a wonderful exchange with fellow fans in the 2D community.
