The convention photos from Bilibili World are finally retouched; my character choice from Zenless Zone Zero this time was Nicole Demara. Bright pink twintails paired with black horned headpieces, forehead ornaments, and a monochrome midriff-baring crop top achieved fidelity that drew praise from numerous fellow fans across the show floor. Nico's persona is bubbly and street-smart, so on the Bilibili World floor, I focused on capturing her playful, self-assured poise. Her in-game wardrobe is instantly recognizable—a high-contrast black-and-white cropped silhouette matched with a black leather choker and heart pendant necklace. To maintain a crisp fit on-site, I pre-calibrated the waistline and strap tension during early fittings.
For hair and makeup, to preserve that 2D anime polish, the foundation was kept pristine and translucent, with eye makeup emphasizing golden-amber iris vibrancy and enlarged ocular contours. The wig was trimmed and styled beforehand; with massive convention crowds prone to frizzing strands, I carried detangling spray and wide-toothed combs for rapid touch-ups between takes. Photographer Qiao Qiao offered fantastic compositional and lighting direction. The convention hall lighting was chaotic, so we sought out industrial metallic railings and low-key backdrops, using portable LED fills for rim illumination to make the pink hair pop cleanly. The ambient temperature ran warm that day, with the dense wig and gear draining physical stamina, yet maintaining sharp focus remained paramount for image quality.
Throughout the shoot, in tune with Nico's canonical mannerisms, I struck numerous clenched-fist and hands-on-hips poses. The bustling floor required intense discipline to govern facial micro-expressions. Nico's in-game delivery and quirky interactions are iconic, so I actively rehearsed those personality quirks between takes to find the zone. This shoot juxtaposed game imagery against on-site candid captures, with post-grading harmonizing tones to bridge digital canon with tangible reality. Through the lens, breathing life into a live-action adaptation requires more than cosmetic likeness; synchronizing posture and ocular expression is what truly channels soul into a persona.
Executing a Zenless Zone Zero Cosplay is far more than slipping into garments—it is an immersion into the character's core spirit. From curating accessories to choreographing physical attitude, every detail demands intentional polishing. While convention environments impose layout limits, that gritty, living energy is something closed studio sets cannot easily emulate. Weaving through crowds for pockets of ambient light and conferring on angles with Qiao Qiao formed the vital rhythm of convention shooting. Though this Nico portrayal was a convention-floor endeavor, it granted me fresh insight and practical experience in character world-building.
