Coming to the indoor venue at Victory Square this time, we brought out this Military style look inspired by Crossfire cosplay. The photo is a Mirror selfie with both of us standing side by side. The entire palette is dominated by khaki and brown tones, blending seamlessly with the rugged concrete pillars and exposed pipes in the background to create an authentic industrial ambiance.
First, let's break down the details of my outfit. I wore a khaki military cap adorned with a red emblem on the brim. The main piece is a long, double-breasted trench-style dress cinched with a belt at the waist and layered over a white base top, featuring a tailored, figure-hugging cut. I paired it with black gloves. For the lower half, I opted for lace-trimmed Black stockings paired with black patent leather high heels; the high-gloss shine of the patent leather caught the overhead indoor lighting remarkably well. My partner's look leaned more into a sleek, tactical vibe: a cropped brown jacket with dark chest paneling, a high collar, a black belt, paired with shorts or a mini skirt, black leather knee guards, and ankle boots, also complemented by black gloves. Standing together, one long and one cropped, our silhouettes created distinct, balanced contrast.
A Mirror selfie comes with subtle compositional techniques. Holding the phone in front of the face takes away the hassle of facial expression management while naturally drawing visual focus to the garments and silhouettes. We adjusted our positions multiple times to nail this shot; mirror reflections demand precise spatial distances to ensure our figures weren't blocked by the black metal railings in the foreground, while keeping the staircase on the left and posters on the right visible to extend the background depth.
For hair and makeup, to complement this tactical and military aesthetic, I opted for a matte base finish and kept the eye makeup relatively clean without overly dramatic false lashes, maintaining a sharp, utilitarian vibe. The short blonde wig needed styling with hair wax before wearing, especially to add volume at the crown and defined texture at the ends, preventing it from appearing flat or stiff.
During shooting, since I was holding the phone and clicking the shutter, I rested my weight on one leg and tilted the other slightly forward to visually elongate the leg line. My partner rested one hand on her hip, turning slightly sideways while glancing toward the mirror, perfectly showcasing the jacket's structured tailoring and waistline. We leveraged the venue's existing overhead lights to fall directly on the leather boots and patent high heels, creating an appealing textural contrast against the matte fabrics. Shooting at Victory Square was a fantastic experience—the space was roomy with ample lighting. While these outfits feature multiple layers, they were comfortable and unrestricted to move around in. I'm definitely looking forward to experimenting with more tactical gear and varied styles in the future.
