[Komeiji Koishi cosplay] Touhou Project: Verdant Garden Pilgrimage of the Subterranean Rose in Lolita Fashion

For this Touhou Project Komeiji Koishi cosplay shoot, I chose a garden where hydrangeas were in full bloom. To faithfully recreate this character, extensive preparations went into everything from hair and makeup to garment details. I specifically selected a wavy styled wig with a soft gradient of mint green and pale cyan, paired with green color contacts and red lips, aiming to evoke that slightly mysterious yet vibrant essence characteristic of the Subterranean Rose. The wide-brimmed green tulle bonnet served as one of the visual centerpieces of the entire ensemble; its brim is finished with black scalloped ruffles, and to enhance its dimensional layers, it was accented with beige ribbons and bows. When the breeze blew during the shoot, the fluttering sheer brim added gorgeous dynamic motion.

The wardrobe featured a vintage, richly layered Lolita dress. The bodice is designed with dark brown and beige paneling, highlighted by a prominent beige statement bow on the chest pinned with a blue gemstone brooch. The sleeves are voluminous flared bell sleeves printed with vintage motifs, overlaid with semi-sheer golden tulle that feels delightfully substantial in motion. The skirt hem consists of multi-tiered ruffles in deep green edged with gold trim. To enrich the styling further, I wound blue floral vines around my waist and hips while holding a small pink plush doll—props that added wonderful narrative depth to the frames.

To complement this outfit, I chose Black stockings and black glossy platform Mary Janes. Shooting in the garden, the sleek texture of the Black stockings echoed the deep green skirt palette beautifully, bringing clean visual cohesion to the overall coordination. The weather was wonderful during our session, with soft sunlight filtering gently across the blue and pink hydrangeas. For the first seated shot, I leaned forward slightly to showcase the bodice details and leg lines, holding the plush doll against my chest to enhance the storytelling. The second close-up focused on conveying facial emotion, using hydrangeas as foreground bokeh to create a hazy, dreamlike mood. The third full-body standing pose offered the best way to showcase the ensemble in its entirety: holding the brim of my hat with one hand and lightly lifting the skirt hem with the other, standing with legs staggered to display the pairing of platform shoes and Black stockings while letting the intricate skirt drape naturally to reveal the full garment silhouette.

I truly adore this character's aura from Touhou Project. I am thoroughly pleased with how the styling and scenery complemented each other—the collision of green and blue against the garden backdrop felt wonderfully crisp and refreshing. I hope this photo set brings everyone visual delight.
