The set design for this Kafka shoot was heavily focused on the pink laser lines. Those crisscrossing beams of light closely resemble her Spirit Whisper threads, instantly maximizing an atmosphere of mystery and danger. To match such tension, I experimented extensively with various poses and movements. For example, the wide-stance pose aiming the gun placed high demands on core strength and leg flexibility. To achieve that flawless, low-center-of-gravity shooting perspective, I warmed up thoroughly beforehand to ensure the leg lines remained sleek and defined when extended. Wearing semi-sheer Black stockings and leg straps combined with a glossy patent leather skirt and knee-high boots meant that larger movements would make material friction and specular highlights extremely noticeable. Therefore, while refining poses, I deliberately controlled the orientation of my thighs and knees to accentuate elongated proportions through the garment's tailored silhouette.
The contrast between the heavy black leather coat and the inner white blouse was another key element of this look. The lantern sleeves of the white blouse created an elegant drape whenever I raised my arms to shoot, injecting a touch of grace into the ruthless combat vibe. To secure the leg straps firmly, anti-slip measures were applied underneath so that wide-ranging movements wouldn't cause shifting, ensuring impeccable visual neatness. Given that patent leather reflects strongly under intense illumination, constant fine-tuning of the lighting with the photographer was essential—employing side-backlighting to chisel body contours while steering clear of flat front lighting that might look plasticky.
During the night exterior shots, the introduction of dry ice fog enriched the depth and layers of the visuals. Holding up the black umbrella, paired with a tilted-head sideways glance, created natural atmosphere without needing overly complicated poses. The umbrella frame wobbled slightly in the evening breeze, requiring wrist stabilization to project an air of effortless composure. Photographer Li Yubin did an extraordinary job capturing movement, light, and shadow: the sharp lines of the pink lasers and the diffused radiance through the dry ice fog were handled with perfection, elevating the rich textures of the costume. Holding dual guns not only demanded maintaining a lethal intensity in my eyes, but wrist stability was also a real test to prevent clumsy prop alignment. Though neither gun was excessively heavy, holding them suspended for several seconds quickly fatigued the muscles. Particularly when aiming directly into the camera lens, eye focus and muzzle alignment had to match with pinpoint precision. Moving through the fluorescent lines, I had to ensure my body never physically disturbed them, relying on limb angles to forge an illusion of weaving through lasers, allowing still imagery to convey dynamic continuity. What this series aims to deliver is precisely that languid yet fiercely aggressive sense of complete control.
