This set of Honkai: Star Rail Sparkle photos shot in Nanjing is themed around "The Show Begins." To recreate that dangerous yet charming bad girl aura, we made special considerations for everything from the makeup to the props. White hair paired with red eyes, and the beauty mark under her eye is the finishing touch. Coupled with the heavy eye makeup, it instantly grabbed the visual focus in front of the red velvet curtain. For the outfit, the asymmetrical patchwork of orange, white, and black, along with the mini top hat, rabbit ear elements on her head, and the cute rabbit pattern print on the cuffs, kept a sweet contrast amidst the fierceness of the overall look.
The photographer's perspective is very unique, alternating between wide-angle high-angle and low-angle shots. Combined with the black-and-white checkered floor, this greatly heightened the dramatic conflict of the image. We threw a lot of confetti on set to capture that split-second tension, which is why you can see some dynamic moments with hair and skirt hems flying—exactly that highly explosive state in Photo 4.
The post-processing is one of the souls of this photo set. I intentionally chose a lot of retro pixel style UI and glitch art special effects, including early Windows windows, exclamation mark icons, and stacked ERROR pop-ups. Along with the red-blue chromatic aberration dispersion filter, this gave the entire set of photos an extra layer of a cyberpunk circus texture undergoing a digital network collapse. This deliberately manufactured information chaos perfectly fits the character's morally gray, prank-loving personality.
As a cosplayer, portraying a character is more than just wearing the right clothes; it's about nailing the expressions and atmosphere. When facing the camera, only by completely immersing oneself in that "bad girl" setting can you convey a strong enough sense of story through body language and gaze. The lighting atmosphere on the day of the shoot was also just right, perfectly showcasing the texture of the skin and strands of hair. This photo set truly elevated my cosplay experience to a new level, fully leaning into and capturing the character's sense of contrast.
