[Skadi Cosplay] Arknights Abyssal Hunter's Birthday Celebration Photo - Image 1

This set of Skadi official cosplay photoshoot was actually completed a few days before her birthday. From the makeup concept to post-processing, the entire preparation cycle lasted on and off for nearly two weeks. The final cool-toned atmosphere and the character's own chilly aura basically achieved the expected goals of my shoot this time.

Today is also Titi's birthday, and releasing this cosplay photoshoot right at this moment feels highly ritualistic. Happy Birthday Skadi! Let's talk about the difficult points of this look first. The texture of the silver-white wig is crucial; it cannot look dry. To give the hair strands that flowing feel of an Abyssal Hunter, I intentionally preserved some natural sheen and thickness when combing the wig. The wide-brimmed deep blue magic hat overhead is the soul of the entire style—the curve of its brim dictates the flow of the overall silhouette, requiring repeated angle adjustments during the shoot to ensure it wouldn't look top-heavy on camera.

In terms of costume, the fabric of this deep blue outerwear is quite crisp, and the white lines at the collar combined with the dark patchwork increase the layering of the clothing. The leather black gloves are the key to this outfit; the matte leather can yield very clear highlights under indoor cool-toned lights without over-reflecting and stealing the visual focus. The blue strap design at the wrists also makes the overall color palette more unified.

I put a lot of work into the handling of the props. For that red semi-transparent fish prop to achieve this solid and translucent texture in the photos, I previously tried both acrylic and resin casting solutions, ultimately choosing a highly transparent soft rubber material. This is not only sturdy but also, combined with a small fill-light strip we hid at the bottom of the prop, creates a visual effect as if it glows from within. When holding it for display, the matte black of the gloves and the bright red of the fish body form a sharp contrast, making the visual focal point of the frame highly explicit.

For the light placement on the day of the shoot, we primarily relied on a high-power softbox as a side-front light, paired with the blue-and-white circular background light cast from behind, creating a sense of isolation as if being in the deep sea or starry sky. The post-processing didn't rely excessively on filters, mostly focusing on correcting skin tones and halation, plus a little starry shimmering glow effect and faintly visible red curves in the frame to embellish that ethereal, mysterious vibe.

During the shoot, because I needed to hold up the prop single-handed while maintaining a side-facing backward glance posture, it actually required some core strength, but fortunately, moving around in this outfit was relatively convenient. Every time I look at this cosplay photoshoot, though I have to maintain a cold and detached expression, that red fish in my hand makes it really easy to break character. The scene in the behind-the-scenes bloopers where a friend used that fish to tease me makes me look like a completely different person from the official set.

Completing this set of content right at the character's birthday node this time, whether it was the early costume preparation or the hair and makeup coordination, feels like a heartfelt gift to Titi. The experience of shooting the whole thing didn't feel like completing a task, but more like an in-depth trial of costumes and light/shadow. If everyone is preparing a similar cool-toned, prop-inclusive look, try your best to focus on the prop's light translucency and light source control—the resulting effect will be a huge bonus for Anime cosplay.
