When shooting this set of Yuki Minakami, the first things that came to my mind were the rooftop and the wind. This time, I specially chose this black dress with lace trim and thin camisole straps, paired with over-the-knee socks, a choker, and a black wristband, trying my best to recreate the character's everyday look that carries a bit of detachment yet casualness.
The lighting on the day of the shoot was very harsh. The afternoon sunlight pierced through the thick clouds and spilled onto the rooftop, creating a massive contrast in lighting, which happened to let the black skirt hem form a highly striking color contrast with the blue sky and white clouds. When portraying her, the most important thing is that relaxed sense of 'being completely at ease.' Leaning against the railing with a lollipop in mouth, or standing sideways against the strong wind, one's whole body needs to completely relax and blend into the environment. During the shoot, we deliberately caught a few moments when the wind was strong, adjusting the shutter speed to capture the exact instant the skirt hem was lifted by the wind. The black fabric presented a lightweight sense of layering under the harsh light, truly matching that fluttering state described in the original post.
The rooftop is genuinely a highly dynamic filming location. This time, I tried to combine the character with the real-world blue sky, steel bars, and concrete, preserving the 2D atmosphere while bringing a touch of the raw texture of a real-world scene. The sky was not excessively modified in post-production either; the saturation of the original raw photo was already enough to support the visual focus of this style.
