This Kanna Halloween version styling actually took quite a long time to prepare, mainly to balance the character's inherent soft and cute vibe with the Halloween atmosphere. The headwear is the visual center of the entire look, featuring an orange bat-bow hairband along with huge white curved horn accessories on both sides, creating a strong sense of weight overall. During the shoot, I needed to constantly adjust the wearing angle and position to ensure that both front and profile angles could support this exaggerated styling, otherwise it would easily look top-heavy due to the oversized headwear and affect the photo composition proportions.
In terms of the wig, to restore the character's texture, a light purple bob style was specially chosen. The blunt bangs were trimmed very neatly, and the hair ends were slightly curved inward, creating a face-framing effect that makes the face shape look more petite and delicate. To match the Halloween theme, the makeup didn't choose overly intense colors; instead, while retaining the character's youthful cuteness, the area of the pink blush was intensified, blending from under the eyes all the way to the center of the face. Paired with bright blue colored contact lenses and distinct, separated eyelashes, this made the gaze look clearer and more innocent.
The costume is an orange-and-black color-blocked dress with a wide orange baby collar that nicely flatters the neck line. The sleeves are puff sleeves, adding an overall lively feel, and the skirt hem is printed with black bat pattern elements, echoing the headwear from afar. The material of the clothing is relatively crisp, which can well support the silhouette of the skirt. The paired prop is a classic plastic pumpkin basket; during the shoot, I tried actions like raising the pumpkin high with one hand, or leaning forward slightly while holding the basket and looking at the lens, trying to capture a bit of a little devil's playfulness.
The selection of the background was also quite particular, choosing a wooden door with retro embossed frosted glass. The warm tones of the wood coordinate very well with the orange-and-black color-blocked costume, not stealing the focus of the subject while adding a sense of layering to the frame. During light testing, I found that warm-toned lighting fits the orange clothes exceptionally well, making the whole picture look full of autumn warmth. Because the horns of the headpiece are quite long, I had to be very careful when turning around or taking props in a narrow space to avoid bumps and knocks. The handle of the pumpkin basket is a bit thin, leaving marks on the hand after holding it for a long time, but for the sake of the picture effect, all of this is totally worth it.
Actually, before releasing this set of photos, I thought for a long time about how to present them, and finally decided to maintain the fairness of the skin and color saturation, avoiding overly complex post-processing synthesis, but instead conveying the holiday atmosphere through such a clean background and the character's own expressiveness. Being able to share the joy of the holiday with everyone in this way and record a different side of the character is also the most enjoyable moment as a coser, and I hope to bring everyone a unique little Halloween surprise belonging to Kanna.
