Presenting Kanna's classic look from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. The synthetic wig was styled into a blunt-bang bob matching the original design, with light violet strands reflecting a gentle cool sheen under venue illumination. The pair of curved white horns at the crown was crafted from lightweight materials to minimize fatigue over prolonged wear. To capture Kanna's clear, curious gaze, I chose bright blue contact lenses and focused the eye makeup on rounded, soft contours.
The costume is packed with intricate tailoring. The outermost white plush capelet has a thick, substantial hand-feel, bordered by pink trim patterned with black geometric meander motifs for crisp visual tiers. The chest features black crisscross lacing intersected by a white ruffled placket. Long pink sleeves flare into gathered puff ruffles at the cuffs, creating plenty of airy volume in motion. The bottom features a tiered white ruffled miniskirt paired with White stockings; while white pantyhose require careful attention to leg lines, they deliver an exceptionally pristine look. On my feet, crimson Mary Jane shoes with crisscross straps and buckles form a vivid chromatic pop against the white tights. Behind me, the slender tail is tipped with a purple plush puff that sways playfully with every step, perfectly channeling the charm of a monster girl.
Shooting inside a convention hall presented complex ambient lighting. For the first full-body shot, I stood upright, raising my right hand in a sight-guiding gesture while extending my left arm outward to showcase the garment's silhouette and proportions. In the second close-up, I held both hands near my chest with curled fingers mimicking cute little paws, leaning slightly forward to bring my face closer to the lens, letting the blue contacts sparkle with lively energy. The third setup was a seated pose on a white faux-fur rug, resting a gentle fist beneath my chin with my left hand resting across my lap; here, the pairing of White stockings and red Mary Janes formed a grounded focal anchor at the bottom of the frame.
Since these were Convention photos, crowd barriers and passersby filled the background, prompting us to find relatively open corners and open the aperture wide to soften ambient clutter. During post-production grading, highlights were rolled off carefully to preserve delicate fluff textures on the plush capelet, giving the overall frame a softer touch. Wearing this ensemble taught me that beneath the soft pink-and-white aesthetic, navigating multiple garment tiers and long hemlines requires mindful steps, especially watching out for strappy shoe buckles. From costume prep to on-site coordination, every effort aimed to faithfully mirror Kanna's endearing essence.
