[Cartethyia Cosplay] Dreamy Presentation of a Blue and White Fairy Tale Style

Pre-shoot preparations for this Cartethyia Cosplay took quite some time. First was organizing the outfit: the lace on the skirt is very fine, requiring careful layering while dressing to ensure a fluffy, voluminous silhouette when worn. The bow at the neckline is made of teal-blue satin, matching the blue-and-white checkered fabric on the skirt. The headpiece features checkered cloth accented with black pom-poms and playing card elements, packed with rich details. For hair and makeup, long golden curly hair was used, styled meticulously to convey airy lightness. Attaching the pointed Elf ears required technique to blend them seamlessly with the hair and facial contours. Blue gem earrings were used to brighten the look during shooting. The White stockings were chosen in an opaque yet elastic fabric, whose red and blue heart patterns clung cleanly to the leg lines without looking bulky. The shoes were brown platform Mary Janes, which matched the character's persona well.

The main prop during the shoot was the giant white fork. Because of its extreme length, controlling the center of gravity with a one-handed grip was quite difficult. To capture that weightless and fantastical feel, I posed standing on one leg for the first photo, which truly tested core strength—even a slight tremor made it hard to stay balanced. The subsequent seated poses were slightly easier. The set was decorated with many blue ribbons and balloons, using cel-style lighting to weave together the blue and white palette of the balloons and dress, keeping the overall ambiance cohesive. When shooting close-ups, the key was mastering eye focus and expressions. Resting the handle of the fork horizontally beneath the chin naturally framed the face, allowing for a relaxed expression with a hint of curiosity and agility.

I constantly communicated angles with the photographer on set. To find the optimal lighting sweet spot, we shifted the lights back and forth multiple times to show off the texture of the White stockings while ensuring no odd shadows fell across the face. The location was chosen for its white pillars, wooden flooring, and retro door frames, matching the indoor fairy-tale vibe I wanted. While setting up, we also had to manage the natural draping of the blue ribbons. Toward the end of the shoot, I leaned the fork against the pillar, sat on a chair, and extended my legs slightly forward, utilizing perspective to stretch visual leg length. Combined with the texture and patterns of the White stockings, the overall visual impact was rich and full.

Once the finished photos were ready, the overall composition leaned toward clean and tidy, with props and Blue and white outfit colors in harmony. Framing avoided cluttered backgrounds, leaving only clean elements like curtains and white pillars to focus visual attention entirely on the person and attire. I feel this set successfully captures the cute and fantastical atmosphere of the costume, and I'm quite pleased with the result. Despite encountering minor hiccups during the shoot—like the costume easily disheveling and balloons floating away—continuous adjustments ultimately froze these frames and built valuable experience for shooting this fairy-tale style.
