[Cartethyia Cosplay] Capturing the Serenity of Lahai-Roi on Forest Stone Steps in Wuthering Waves - Image 1

This time I cosplayed Cartethyia (Lahai-Roi) from Wuthering Waves. From the moment I received this character setting, I kept contemplating how to bring out her unique traits through an outdoor location. The subtle layering of this outfit features a cool color contrast between the white top and dark blue gradient skirt, whose printed ripple and starlight patterns produce delicate shimmer under sunlight. The white vine accessories on her headwear and ankles serve as the soul of the look—far more than mere decorations, they define the character's connection with nature.

The shoot location was chosen in a courtyard featuring lush vegetation and rustic stone steps. The photographer scouted the venue in advance and found this perfect corner: giant monstera leaves on the left, dense ferns in the background, and clusters of small yellow flowers speckling the foreground, filling the frame with vibrant life. Dark wooden beams and aged stone platforms balanced any potential floaty feel from the light-colored costume, allowing the character to rest grounded firmly within the scene.

To highlight the delicate vine details around the ankles and convey a sense of lightness, I chose a barefoot posture, sitting sideways on the stone steps. With ankles crossed and hands resting naturally along my legs, paired with a slightly angled high-angle camera shot, the long train of the skirt was fully displayed while elongating my silhouette. To build ambient mood, we strategically placed several short white candles to the left and rear; though unlit, their textures blended naturally with the mossy stone under ambient light, adding a touch of fantasy and serene mystery.

The coordination of makeup and hairstyle was also a meticulous effort. The light golden long hair was layered carefully so that sideburns and bangs framed my face shape perfectly, while light blue contact lenses gave my gaze an aloof, detached air when looking through the camera lens. Sunlight streamed diagonally from the upper right on shoot day, gilding a gorgeous rim highlight along the hair strands and rendering them exceptionally translucent.

The preparation cycle for this Cosplay photoshoot set was actually longer than expected; adjusting the outfit, reinforcing accessories, and adapting to natural lighting during the outdoor shoot all required substantial thought. Yet at the moment the shutter clicked, every effort felt worthwhile. The photographer excels at capturing fleeting expressions—both the fluid motion of the trailing skirt and the stillness of a quiet gaze were recorded beautifully. Throughout the session, I continuously adjusted my posture to align my body language with the character's serene, aloof, yet resilient tone. We refrained from applying overly dramatic post-processing filters, choosing instead to preserve the authentic environmental textures of the raw shots, where surrounding foliage and wooden textures became essential frame elements. That is perhaps the most captivating aspect of outdoor cosplay: using real environments to let 2D anime characters step authentically into 3D landscapes, creating a unique atmosphere where reality and fantasy intertwine.
