For these convention shots of Augusta, I specifically experimented with a hybrid workflow integrating AI post-processing. The convention floor was packed on the day of the shoot, so to capture the character's explosive dynamic energy on the battlefield, we located a relatively open corner. The costume features intricate construction: the white fabric is light and billowing, yet paired with the metallic armor across the waist, vambraces, and neck gorget, the total weight was far from light. To ground the gestures with tangible power, I dropped into a deep, low-center-of-gravity lunge, bracing my left hand against faux gravel terrain while gripping the polearm weapon tightly in my right hand to sweep it upward. With a portable blower catching the crimson streamers and long red tresses so they whipped backwards, that air-cleaving tension materialized instantly.

The most demanding challenge during production was mastering the lighting scheme. Because the attire incorporated extensive specular metallic surfaces and the polearm required visual space for massive luminous energy, we deployed dual-color-temperature fill lights to carve warm golden rim highlights along my silhouette. To heighten the visceral destruction of combat, I scattered crushed gravel around my feet, kicking up a fine spray of dust as I drove power into the stance. These tangible physical textures established an indispensable real-world foundation for subsequent AI visual extensions.

Once the raw proofs arrived, I transitioned into AI post-processing. Rather than allowing AI to overhaul facial likeness or textile textures, I directed its generative algorithms strictly toward rendering the weapon's luminescence and atmospheric environmental depth. The natural highlights on the prop were relatively flat in-camera, so I used algorithmic diffusion to project the apex energy beams outward, layering anamorphic cross flares and radial lens glares. Concurrently, concentric energy glyph arrays and streaks of high-velocity light trails were embedded into the background to magnify the visual impact of skill activation. On the second edit, I pushed the magnitude of the energy burst further, making the polearm appear entirely engulfed in searing radiance while layering the depth of flying shrapnel and shattered stone particles.

This experiment convinced me that AI post-processing does not replace human craftsmanship, but rather acts as an empowering auxiliary tool—enabling us to realize high-concept fantasy spectacles that are prohibitively costly to fabricate physically. Navigating a convention all day in full armor was thoroughly exhausting, yet reviewing the final finished frames, rich with mythic grandeur and sacred combat power, made every drop of sweat worthwhile. Bringing dynamic, action-heavy characters to life always demands exhaustive groundwork, rehearsing everything from armor articulation to biomechanical leverage in your mind. Convention photography captures far more than a frozen freeze-frame; it seals the living pulse of a character in that exact heartbeat. Channeling a character's fighting spirit through this collaborative medium is an exhilarating creative pursuit.
