Operating on a new platform, sharing this set of Cai Wenji cosplay photoshoots. The theme of this shoot was set in a pastoral garden. To recreate Cai Wenji's healing, agile, and somewhat ethereal qualities from Honor of Kings, the outfit features a pure white multi-layered lace long dress, with small plush balls along the hem and exquisite pale gold embroidery. This is paired with her signature lake-blue short hair and a matching large white bunny ear headpiece, forming a refreshing and detached visual feel.

For the scene construction, we used a white iron arch as the main structure, wrapped with plenty of ivy greenery and dotted with white and purple simulation flowers. The shoot took place in the afternoon when the sunlight filtered through the vines, creating vivid light spots. The photographer utilized extensive backlighting and foreground blurring techniques, using the white flowers in front of the flower stand as a blurred foreground to create a dreamy, ethereal, yet highly healing visual experience.

In the entire set, we incorporated a tea party concept, displaying a floral teapot and lace tablecloth, accompanied by a woven flower basket and a white lace handbag. This gives the frame a life-like atmosphere while maintaining a slight French pastoral vintage feel. In terms of action guidance, I chose different states—sitting quietly at the round table while turning back with a teacup, holding a large bouquet of white roses while gently looking down in thought, and dynamic candid shots walking forward with the flower basket. I personally love the one carrying the flower basket; it captures a fleeting moment of the dress blowing in the wind under the play of light and shadow, injecting a lively soul into the static photos.

To match Cai Wenji's image, a lot of thought went into the makeup and styling. The overall makeup avoided a heavy feel, highlighting skin texture. The eye makeup only used a faint transition of pink and brown tones, paired with the lake-blue wig, making the eyes look large and bright. The lip color was a peach milk tea shade, which enhances complexion without being overly bright. Under backlit conditions, such a clean face better demonstrates the translucency of the skin texture.

Here is a small styling detail: the bunny ear headpiece and the white plush ball hair accessories on top actually require center-of-gravity adjustments when walking, otherwise they easily tilt. To cooperate with this ethereal vibe, I gave up many complex large movements, keeping my postures gentle and reserved, trying out many side-facing, head-lowering, or slightly tilted head gestures, which blended better with the scene's atmosphere. Although the costume is pure white, it easily gets overexposed in strong light environments, so the photographer's control over aperture and exposure compensation was highly precise—ensuring both an overall bright and translucent feel while making the lace embroidery texture on the clothing clearly visible.

In post-processing, we didn't alter the light and shadow excessively but instead tried to preserve the natural gloss of the sunlight filtering through the leaves. We slightly raised the image's exposure to enhance the overall ethereal feel and mildly lowered the color saturation to unify the white and green main palette. The entire shoot took about three to four hours. Although wearing the multi-layered white dress was quite tedious and I had to constantly watch out for mud on the grass, I could feel the warm, healing power transmitted by the character itself. I hope this quiet and gentle warmth, combined through light, greenery, and clothing, can bring a clear and pure visual enjoyment through portrait photography.
