[Columbina Cosplay] Genshin Impact Maiden, A Floating Moment Between Deep Purple and Pure White - Image 1

Intertwined in the light and shadow of deep purple and pure white, this Genshin Impact cosplay photoshoot of Columbina is finally here to meet you all. This time, the styling focuses on extreme lightness and an ethereal feel, and the main difficulty in achieving this visual effect lay entirely in controlling the dynamics of a large amount of tulle and flowing ribbons.

The costume uses a satin material with a pearlescent luster, paired with a lace-up design on the upper body, which creates a delicate reflection under the lens. The most "headache-inducing" yet defining part was the rigid, geometrically faceted headpiece on top of my head and the transparent veil covering it. The light transmittance and thickness of the veil went through multiple selections; it had to allow the contours of my facial features to be seen through it without having the edges rigidly stick to my face. To match the dreamy tone of the entire photoshoot, the makeup intentionally omitted heavy eyeshadow colors, using an almost "makeup-free" clear base and a faint lip color to highlight the maiden's inherent fragility and softness.

During the shoot, those two long arm-guard ribbons and the large area of shimmering water-gauze on the outer layer of the skirt placed high demands on my movements. Because the gauze is extremely light, a slight breath or a tiny airflow would change the direction of their flight, and the slightest carelessness would cause them to tangle into a clump. To achieve the perfect "bursting" and "flying" state shown in the pictures, I needed to fully stretch my hands and body backward the split second before the shutter clicked, while tensing the muscles of my shoulders and back. The white circular pedestal under my feet was actually very narrow; tiptoeing barefoot on it while maintaining an extreme backward-leaning balance was a true test of core control. If I couldn't stand steadily, not only would the posture collapse, but even a slight shift in the headpiece's position would cause the tension of the entire frame to vanish instantly.

The photographer and I repeatedly adjusted the light positions countless times on set, striving to prevent the blue-purple gradient background color from washing out the white gauze dress. We used a softbox directly overhead and slightly to the side for the main light, maximizing the preservation of the satin fabric's luster while avoiding harsh shadows on the face. The choice of wig also received special treatment; the ends of the long red-and-black hair needed a slightly curled styling, and when fixing the headpiece on top, we had to ensure it was secure and immovable without flattening the hair too much, requiring sufficient volume support at the roots.

This entire look carries strong Genshin Impact character traits—a sort of Girly Cosplay charm that drifts outside the world yet holds a mysterious color. The whole set leans towards a "finished photoshoot" style, without excessively pursuing exaggerated set construction, but instead focusing all visual attention on the character's body language, the headpiece styling, and the material contrast of the clothing. Rather than a tough combat stance, I prefer using this extended, even slightly weightless and floating physical expression to fit the character's detached, light-as-a-dream atmosphere.

The pink ribbon ties on the clothes and the white criss-cross straps on the ankles are details trying to enrich the dominant white tone, preventing the entire image from appearing monotonous. The whole process indeed consumed a lot of physical energy, but being able to materialize this character's ethereal temperament through the lens makes all the exhaustion worth it. I hope this set of photos allows people to feel that breeze unbound by gravity.
