"Release the seal!" was the most classic line of that year. Taking advantage of the last sunny day of the Wuhan Cherry Blossom Season, I completed this Cosplay photoshoot under a tree full of cherry blossoms. The preparation process for this magical girl outfit was actually very long. The pink skirt hem has very solid fabric support, and the inner black high-neck long-sleeve top adds to the overall sleekness, while the black lace details on the cuffs and skirt edge fully replicate the original setting. The massive gold bell at the collar is absolutely the finishing touch, and combined with the black cat ears on top of my head, it turns the character into a playful and agile catgirl amidst the soft pink colors.

This shoot relied heavily on perfect timing and location. We originally planned for several weekends but encountered continuous rainy weather in Wuhan. As it turned out, on the exact day when the cherry blossoms were at their peak, it miraculously cleared up—and it suddenly turned good on the exact morning of our departure day. The shooting location was at a well-known cherry blossom viewing spot in Wuhan. Although it wasn't the weekend, there were still many passersby on-site. We found a cherry blossom tree with relatively low branches packed with pure white snow-like flowers, which, paired with the soft natural light, served as a superb lighting setup that gave the whole set a natural soft-focus filter effect.

The photographer's snapshot capability was very strong, especially when the wind was strong that day—the pink skirt hem fluttered with the wind, and combined with me spinning under the tree holding the magic wand with a yellow five-pointed star ring, the lens captured highly vivid dynamic frames. Catching brilliant moments indeed relies on luck and patience. To capture the most natural dynamics of the skirt hem, we often had to repeat the same set of movements four or five times, constantly adjusting our standing positions against the wind to fight the wind direction. Sometimes for a great angle, I needed to semi-squat or bend down under the cherry blossom branches, holding the magic card printed with a magic circle pattern, with my gaze interacting with the camera lens.

I also trimmed this wig myself; the length of the bangs and the curvature on both sides were meticulously adjusted to fit the character's personality. Paired with light green colored contacts, it took three hours for the makeup that day. Both the eye and lip makeup strived to appear clear and translucent rather than heavy, matching the clear and bright atmosphere of spring cherry blossoms. Because it was an outdoor portrait photography session, the highlights on the face were handled very conservatively, preserving the natural skin texture.

Although the shooting process encountered a few gusts of wind that blew petals all over my body midway, it was exactly that gust of wind that captured the most natural, uncarved moments. In this set, my personal favorite is the composition where the skirt hem and cherry blossoms bring out the best in each other, with pink and white interwoven, looking highly refreshing visually. The magic wand prop in my hand was actually quite heavy. To prevent it from reflecting light or causing a wardrobe mistake, the photography assistant was helping adjust the reflector board's angle beside me all the time, ensuring that every close-up had no flaws.

Once the last photo was taken that day, the sky had already darkened, and the sky above Wuhan was once again enveloped by dark clouds. We practically caught the exact tail end of that last bit of sunshine. The meaning of doing cosplay is probably being able to bring the settings you love into real, beautiful scenes. At the exact second I saw the final images, all the fatigue from staying up all night rushing the work and adjusting props completely vanished into thin air. This outfit is actually very thick and heavy. Although the daytime temperature in Wuhan during the cherry blossom season is acceptable, moving around outdoors all day long in this outfit indeed caused quite a bit of sweat inside. However, for the final shooting results, everything was worth it. Consider it as drawing a successful conclusion to this spring outing. The cherry blossoms are indeed the best gift of spring, and leaving a photo record here is a highly meaningful thing.
