This Sigrika cosplay outfit took significantly more time than expected from the initial makeup trial to the actual shoot, and I've finally organized the final cuts to share with everyone. From props and apparel to scene construction, a lot of preparation was done specifically tailored to the characteristics of this character.

First, regarding the hairstyle, the bright orange twin braids are the focus of the entire look. To achieve high accuracy, the wig was specially braided into multiple strands of long, thick braids, with the ends tightly tied with light-colored strings and adorned with several small golden bells, so that the ends of the hair naturally swing with the movements during the shoot, adding to the character's agility. Many attempts were made for the facial makeup and elf ears; the elf ears beautifully contoured the ears, and the eyeshadow used a bright color scheme to match the orange hair color, emphasizing the eye contours and the overall 2D texture. The costume chose a design combining a purple-to-white gradient and golden line cutouts, and the combination of the off-the-shoulder top and deep purple shorts visually elongated the body proportions. Especially that pair of purple high-heeled lace-up sandals with golden decorations, paired with the hand-drawn red line tattoo revealed at the base of the thigh, made the character's temperament both elegant and slightly sharp.

There are many object details in this shoot. In addition to the vibrant orange used as the main orange prop, many huge sunflowers were added to the layout. Combined with golden vintage frames, a white grand piano, an old-fashioned grandfather clock, and a black-and-white checkerboard floor, a unique atmosphere somewhere between classical art and 2D fantasy was crafted. The bright yellow of the sunflowers formed an excellent complementary color to the character's orange hair and purple-and-white clothing, making the frame's colors extremely rich.

During the shooting process, we adjusted the camera positions multiple times for different scene elements. For example, in the close-up shots, a shallow depth of field was used to blur the clock and sheet music in the background, thereby highlighting the close-up of the character holding the orange, concentrating the viewer's attention on the character's expression and hand movements. When shooting sitting poses, crossing or raised legs combined with relaxed hand movements perfectly showcased the natural drape of the costume and the character's confidence. As for that single-leg standing action, because the high-heeled sandals have thick soles and platforms, finding the center of gravity repeatedly was necessary to maintain balance and a relaxed expression. The photographer used continuous high-speed shutter bursts when capturing this set of movements, catching the moment the skirt hem flew up, making the frame look more energetic.

The studio lighting used this time leaned towards being crisp and hard. The lighting direction focused on highlighting the gradient colors of the costume, allowing the white skirt hem and purple fabric to generate sharply contrasted shadows and highlights. This lighting method places high demands on the wig's glossiness; if the light is too warm, it will mask the color expressiveness of the orange hair. In the post-processing phase, we paid attention to maintaining high brightness and high saturation of the frame's colors while avoiding overexposing the skin tone or having it turn gray. In the details, for instance, the sharpness of the purple straps along the edges of that small horn-shaped ornament and the tassels retained sufficient clarity in the final cuts.

In the preparation phase, we actually spent a lot of time on the accessories and the presentation of the 2D hairstyle. The multi-strand braids were unraveled and restyled with hair wax before the shoot to prevent frizz and ensure a smooth texture under the flash. Additionally, the white outer fabric of the skirt hem is relatively light and prone to wrinkling; after every change in movement, the stylist needed to smooth out the clothing folds again so that the fabric presented natural draping lines. The asymmetrical design of this costume at the high-waist position is excellent, but because the center of gravity is high, when doing arm-raising or bending actions, this small horn ornament with an eye pattern on the waist and the straps below are prone to flaring up, so the orientation of the accessories needed constant attention during the shoot. Regarding the red tattoo stickers on the legs, to present natural-looking marks fitted to the skin, we applied a waterproof base coat and customized stickers on the model's legs in advance, ensuring no edge lifting or reflection would appear under intense light, which saved a lot of editing trouble during post-processing.

In setting the emotional expression, since the character naturally possesses a relaxed and cheerful temperament, I tried my best to maintain a bright smile in front of the lens. However, to prevent the smile from appearing stiff, I made sure to do more facial relaxation expressions during shooting intervals. In this checkerboard scene, the red curtain and sunflowers provided highly rich background colors. When composing, we intentionally placed some sunflower petals or green leaves in the foreground of the frame as blurred foreground elements to increase the depth of field and a hazy aesthetic effect. Before every shutter release, the photographer would remind me to stretch out my limbs, especially the arms and shoulders, to let the off-the-shoulder outfit better display the collarbones and shoulder-neck curves, thereby presenting this character's youthful and weightless feel. This shoot took about three hours. Although it wasn't easy physically, the overall atmosphere and the fullness of the frame were indeed much more outstanding than we imagined. Every shoot of a cosplay costume is a dual test of character restoration and the photographer's technique. Looking back at all the photos, whether it is the exaggerated kicking movements or the stable sitting poses, the overall feeling still holds up the temperament of this styling perfectly. This is a fine showcase of Anime-style photography and a great display of the Cosplay outfit.
