[Cartethyia Cosplay] Knight's Stance and the Faint Light of Wuthering Waves

The idea to shoot Cartethyia from Wuthering Waves had been brewing for a long time. From early preparations to the actual shoot, the main challenge to overcome was the weight distribution of that prop sword and the overall texture of the styling. To align with her elven concept, besides blue contact lenses and pointed elf ears via Elf ear makeup and styling, I specifically added a blue-and-white crown and the black forehead marking. Stacking these fantasy Roleplay elements quickly establishes strong visual character recognition. For the hair, I opted for twin braided pigtails paired with teardrop-shaped blue earrings, ensuring every angle—from side profile to back view—offers rich details to appreciate.

The costume has strong visual layering: the metal ring around the neck connects to the black undergarment base across the collarbone, while the white outer overlay fabric and blue translucent side ribbons generate a beautiful flowing effect when walking or swinging props. For the shoot, we deliberately picked an indoor studio set featuring stained glass windows and white Roman pillars; a white plush rug and blue-and-white faux flowers set a clear, cool-toned baseline for the scene. In terms of posing guidance, I leaned toward postures that elongate body lines—such as sitting on a white stone pillar with legs extended and slightly lifted. This composition not only renders the framing more open and graceful, but naturally highlights the texture of my delicate ankle chain and legs under the light. When swinging the golden broadsword, I rested it sideways against my shoulder or used it as a support point, conveying the weapon's heft without making the frame feel clunky.

Regarding expression management, I aimed to capture a captivating contrast in her personality—both her unwavering resolve as a knight of justice and her slightly lost, relaxed languor when letting her guard down. Especially in that final set of close-ups, I slightly pouted and poked my fingers together in an interactive gesture, wanting to break rigid stereotypes and present a knight profile with cute, playful moodiness. The entire shoot was an intense emotional investment; the photographer handled light and shadow exquisitely in our Cosplay photography session—soft highlights struck the ribbons, making the light blue and white fabrics look vibrant and alive. As for the question in the caption about whether a noble knight succumbs to the Threnodian, my personal interpretation is that winning or losing is merely a fleeting outcome, while staying true to one's conviction is a strength in itself. Thus, beyond a gorgeous visual shell, this photo set aims to convey that inner upright resilience. Post-processing avoided heavy filters, preserving the raw, luminous quality of the lighting to showcase fabric textures to the fullest. Overall, this set faithfully recreated my vision of Cartethyia Cosplay—from the gleam of the weapon to the pleats of the skirt, everything turned out wonderfully on camera.
