Senior Manager Topaz had her rerun in Honkai: Star Rail, and I finally found time to organize and post these convention photos from the September 15 Chengdu DayDream Anime Convention.
Preparing this outfit was actually quite a task. To capture Topaz's capable and crisp vibe from the game, I chose a dark blue-black material with a leather sheen as the main tone, complemented by large areas of red argyle check pattern splicing and a white shirt collar neckerchief accent. There were so many cutout designs on the shoulders and fine golden chain details that adjusting the tightness of these metal accessories alone took nearly half an hour during dressing. However, the final output turned out amazing—especially the dark long gloves on the arms and the boot buckles, which balanced the outfit's tactical functionality with elegant luxury wonderfully.
The shoot took place in an unfinished, raw industrial-style building, where photographer KK utilized the light ingeniously. Combining natural light streaming through the large background windows with a cool blue-toned ambient lighting setup turned this rough, dilapidated scene into an elevated wasteland sci-fi setting. In particular, the composition of me kneeling on one knee while raising the prop gun looked incredibly upright due to the camera angle, with high-heeled tall boots and leg rings clearly highlighted along the light rays. Executing this posture actually required strong core strength to maintain balance, taking quite a few takes on site before picking this shot.
Then there's the final picture with full-screen golden coin special effects—paired with my open-arms pose, it aligned perfectly with Topaz's lore as a senior executive in the IPC Strategic Investment Department, radiating wealth as gold coins rained down. As for props, that white-based handgun adorned with gold trimming and blue light felt solid and substantial, offering a sense of security in hand. I also prepared a plush black fluffy pillow doll nearby; although guns were primarily used during formal Cosplay photography, the photo holding the plush prop carried a delightful everyday warmth.
This silver-white short wig featured small crisscross hair ornaments on top, paired with bright blue contact lenses and a resolute gaze to bring out Topaz's decisive yet confident demeanor instantly. I ran into many fellow fans at the Chengdu Anime Convention, where everyone approached to take photos together upon seeing this outfit; hearing everyone say they loved this Topaz cosplay made all the hard work feel completely worthwhile. Completing this work wouldn't have been possible without our excellent logistics helper and photographer—I hope to bring more high-quality Convention photos in the future!
