The school swimsuit (sukumizu) has always been a classic yet challenging style to pull off in Swimsuit cosplay. Attempting this Sorasaki Hina cosplay look from Blue Archive required a considerable amount of thought dedicated to every detail.

Starting with the outfit, the deep blue one-piece swimsuit features a sleek, form-fitting cut. The halter design with a wide neckline elongates the neck contours beautifully, while a delicate silver chain with an orange pendant around the neck prevents the frame from looking too empty. To match the summer pool vibe, instead of a heavy or complex background setting, I paired it with a red-and-black inflatable mat prop, which not only echoes the color scheme of Gehenna's Disciplinary Committee uniform but also enriches the visual color layering.

The wig and makeup were key focus areas. White hair with straight-cut bangs and a side ponytail demands high wig density; any tangles would immediately look frizzy. I spent time smoothing out every strand beforehand, while ensuring hair clips and hair ties accurately restored the original settings—the dark brown and red accents popped nicely against the white hair. For the black horns and the purple neon halo overhead, capturing that floating effect with electric aura required careful low-angle and high-angle camera framing during the shoot to align with perspective relationships for post-production compositing. Purple contact lenses combined with reddish eye makeup and an orange-red lip tint avoided looking overly cold, adding a sweet-and-spicy charm instead.

During the shoot, to express the dynamic vitality of this look, I avoided stiff standing poses, opting instead for seated postures, leaning forward, or casually running fingers through my hair to enhance relaxed spontaneity. For the final cover photo, we selected a slightly forward-tilted half-body composition, centering the character perfectly. The neckline of the swimsuit and collarbone lines were naturally highlighted, with an expression blending composure and focus. Since I had been away for a while—what people jokingly call an 'MIA content creator'—picking up the camera again actually brought out better relaxed confidence and expressive desire than before. Rather than forcing aggressive expressions, I chose a soft yet firm gaze to interpret this summer version of the character. Against a dark-toned pure white studio background, purple-pink ambient lighting was introduced to brighten the backdrop and rim-light hair strands, imbuing the entire photograph with a dreamy, ethereal texture.

To preserve an authentic cosplay texture, this photo set avoided heavy filters, relying primarily on practical lighting setup merged with post-production special-effect halo compositing. Faintly visible purple wing fabrics in the corner established subtle foreground-background depth transitions whether standing or seated. From wig styling and accessory placement to gaze delivery, every stage required continuous refinement to retain the character's intrinsic demeanor while infusing a touch of personal flair. That, perhaps, is the ultimate joy of cosplay.
