In any Cosplay makeup test phase, the most exciting moment is seeing how the wig and makeup come together. Today's styling and texture of this wig (a little Wig sharing moment!) truly exceeded my expectations. The base tone is a cool silver-grey, with eye-catching teal-blue highlights sweeping across the sides and crown. Hand-embellished fine teal-blue sequins sparkle subtly under the light, evoking a dreamy, deep-sea vibe.
To accurately match the character design, the bangs were trimmed just right—flattering the face without feeling heavy. The sideburn curls curve smoothly, contouring the face nicely and making my facial features pop. While the overall look appears effortless, the flow of every single hair strand was adjusted repeatedly. Immense gratitude to my wig stylist for crafting such a flawless result with divine craftsmanship.
For makeup, I went with a sheer, natural direction. The foundation was kept lightweight and translucent, concealing blemishes while preserving genuine skin texture. The eye makeup wasn't overly heavy; instead, the focus was on refined eyeliner and distinct, defined lashes to give the eyes a bright, spirited gaze. For the lips, I chose a natural dusty rose red, creating a lovely warm-cool contrast against the cool-toned silver-grey and blue wig, making the whole look feel energetic yet gentle.
The outfit coordination was equally deliberate. This light mint-green Chinese-style top features a modernized mandarin collar with intricate frog-button knots at the neckline. The bodice is densely embellished with silver-white and teal heavy embroidery and sequins, displaying rich, multi-layered texture under lighting. This costume is not only visually stunning, but the fabric also boasts wonderful drape and breathability.
The two photos taken with my phone today used direct flash. While it clearly captures many details of the makeup and hair color, direct flash honestly washes out some of the makeup's subtle gradient layers, reducing facial depth. Therefore, as part of my Comic con preparation for upcoming outdoor shoots and convention days, I plan to deepen the makeup saturation a bit more—especially the shadow-and-light transitions of the eyeshadow and blush—so it reads more dimensional and photogenic on camera.
Looking back from the initial test to now, the journey is truly emotional. Makeup techniques, wig styling, and costume coordination all demand significant care and attention. To present the absolute best state for the final shoot of Cheshire Cosplay from Azur Lane, I communicated back and forth with both my makeup artist and wig stylist—from micro-adjustments in makeup to final wig setting. Through our joint efforts, we strived to capture the character's unique temperament and charm.
Although today was only a Cosplay makeup test, the character's distinctive allure is already palpable. The curve of the hair and the resonance in my gaze fully showcase the success of this trial. I'm already looking forward to sharing this highly polished look at upcoming conventions as part of my Comic con preparation. When preparing for cosplay, the greatest challenge is often not the costume itself, but getting closer to the character's soul through hair, makeup, and expression. Practicing repeatedly before the camera today deepened my connection to this Azur Lane character. This journey of self-exploration and continuous detail polishing is precisely what makes being a cosplayer so rewarding.
