The floor photos from the Taishan MBC comic convention are finally ready, and this time I portrayed Zero Two in her Bride look from DARLING in the FRANXX. From the moment I received this white wedding dress, I kept brainstorming how to capture that atmosphere that feels both sacred and delicately alluring. For the wig, I selected a pink tone featuring an obvious gradient texture, trimming the bangs fairly blunt while keeping long sidelocks to flatter my facial contours. Great care was poured into the makeup: bright blue contact lenses were paired with red eyeshadow blended and elongated along the outer corners of the eyes, which, together with sharp eyeliner, produced that slightly aggressive edge. The cheeks were brushed with prominent pink blush and the lips were finished in classic true red, yielding on-camera results far better than expected. The white rose garland atop my head was paired with two red horned hair ornaments, crowned by a long semi-sheer white veil at the back that fluttered with exquisite layered depth whenever I moved.
The dress was packed with intricate details. The bodice featured a form-fitting corset cut with lace trims all along the edges, and the deep V-neckline was lined with nude-tone undergarments. The white structured stand collar around the neck showcased an orange-yellow geometric buckle at its center, achieving a level of fidelity I was personally very thrilled with. The sleeves were over-the-elbow white satin long gloves with delicate lace cuffs; however, because the posing motions were quite dynamic, the glove edges tended to slip down, so green tape was used to anchor them in place—which unexpectedly created a fun contrasting detail on camera. The poofy lower skirt was rich with ruffles, overlaid with hard-surface geometric armor plates. To give these convention floor photos even greater visual impact, I deliberately styled over-the-knee White stockings with white lace-up high heels. The shot holding up the skirt hem is my absolute favorite: beyond highlighting the cascading tiers of the skirt, pairing the white stockings and heels perfectly balanced the volume of the wedding gown, making the overall silhouette look much airier.
The photoshoot process was actually quite a test of endurance: the skirt was heavy, the gloves were slick, and carrying the white floral bouquet and blue rod prop while walking back and forth meant constantly minding the graceful billowing arc of the veil. For the setting, we tracked down an indoor corner accented with dark vintage wallpaper and green foliage, which provided a deep backdrop that made the pure white gown and pink hair pop vibrantly. The photographer controlled light and shadow with immense precision; side-backlighting washing over the hair and hem instantly brought out brilliant texture. From poised standing postures to reaching out or forming finger hearts, every shot involved fine-tuning my mindset. Although convention day was exhausting, successfully materializing the vision in my head was an immensely rewarding accomplishment in itself.
