Sharing this set of official cosplay photos for Azur Lane's Laffey (Bunny City Lord). Before the shoot, I specially re-studied the design details of this skin in the game. To capture her gap-moe setting of looking half-asleep yet being highly reliable at crucial moments, I didn't just emphasize the crimson irises in the makeup, but also used pinkish under-eye blush to make myself look more vibrant, avoiding any paleness brought by the silver-white hair.
In terms of costumes and props, this off-the-shoulder black-and-red patchwork kimono is a highlight. The fabric has an inherent satin sheen that creates a textural collision with the white plush trim. I spent a lot of time adjusting the angles specifically when styling the fox mask hair ornament and fluffy bunny ears to ensure a stable visual center of gravity for the head look. Meanwhile, I also put a lot of effort into maintaining the texture of the props, trying my best to make the round fan and oil-paper umbrella look full and substantial rather than flimsy.
The arrangement of the shooting scene was also carefully executed. The classic wooden boardwalk paired with a stone lantern to the side, along with the pink cherry blossom branches gently spilling over into the background, created an environment vibe very close to the mood envisioned by the illustrator. For the lighting, we deliberately dimmed the ambient light and let the main light source fall directly on the character. This not only highlighted the transparency of the skin but also provided better silhouette outlines for the black clothing.
For the poses, instead of choosing overly intense actions, I used a lazy side-sitting posture or held the umbrella to showcase her casual nature. The feeling of bare feet stepping on the smooth wooden planks brought out the character's sense of lightness. The placement of props during the shoot was also deliberate; for example, the tilt angle of the oil-paper umbrella and the holding position of the round fan were all designed to allow breathing room within the frame.
Overall, the coordination from hair, makeup, and styling to lighting for this work was quite mature. Combined with fine-tuning the color temperature and texture in post-processing, I hope this set of photos allows everyone to feel the unique, lazy charm of the Bunny City Lord, as well as my understanding and dedication toward this Laffey cosplay role through this Japanese-style photography session.
