[Collei Cosplay] Genshin Impact Sumeru Forest Ranger Live Shoot Share

This time I cosplayed Collei, a Sumeru Forest Ranger from Genshin Impact—a Dendro-element Anime cosplay outfit dominated by deep purple, olive green, and gold. When wearing this costume at the anime convention, what attracted me most was actually the metallic chest ornament spliced with rubies and emeralds, along with the matching golden collar trim and leaf-shaped bracers on the arms, maxing out the exotic flair and fantasy feel. The wig is light greyish-green layered hair with that iconic ahoge left on top; to restore the character's charming look, I made the sides near the temples slightly longer. Wearing translucent pink colored contacts made my gaze look softer. Once the overall styling was completed, it not only appeared faithful to her original character personality—slightly shy yet energetic—but was also reasonably breathable to wear in the semi-enclosed convention space.

During shooting, I had many ideas. For example, standing with hands on hips like in Photo 3 fully displays the tailoring of the coat and robe, with the waist belt cinched neatly for an upright visual effect; or like in Photo 4, holding a green-and-yellow plush monster prop with big eyes while doing a salute gesture, making the shot feel even more playful and cute, closely matching her slightly youthful innocence. As a cosplayer, using body language to express the character's spirit is crucial—relying solely on clothes is far from enough. Facing the camera, I adjusted my center of gravity and searched for a gaze that was slightly shy yet confident, achieving a "tsundere" or "soft-cute" vibe.

Elaborating on costume craftsmanship: the shawl edges feature orange piping and tiny white tassels. These small details severely test workmanship, and after receiving it, I checked several times—the positioning of every tassel was quite precise. The wrist gloves and laced armguards were also finishing touches; dark materials spliced with gold metal hardware nicely contoured hand lines without looking bulky. Moreover, the entire costume has high color saturation, and under indoor natural light, even the wig layers appeared very rich, with overhead gloss looking as natural as real hair. When framing through the camera, I specifically coordinated background elements, such as the large venue windows behind. Front lighting made the facial makeup look exceptionally clean and translucent while effectively highlighting the metallic texture on the outfit.

Speaking of character depiction, Collei in Genshin Impact is set as a somewhat introverted yet deeply kind girl. So in Photo 1's close-up, I held the chest ornament with both hands, lowering my head slightly with gaze directed down, striving to create a slightly awkward yet cute feeling. Photo 2's action of resting a hand by the side-head emerald hairpin mainly served to showcase accessory details while using hand gestures to enhance camera interaction. Lighting at the anime convention venue was soft, which I felt fit such a gentle character wonderfully. Every time I cosplay a character with so many details, there is an immersive feeling as if stepping into Teyvat. Paired with plush props, my overall aura softened even more.

Actually, the hardest part of restoring a character often isn't the outfit, but that lively facial demeanor and character aura. So throughout the photoshoot, I constantly recalled her backstory in my head, adjusting facial muscles to ensure mouth curvature and eye brightness carried an innocent yet persistent trait. The makeup and gaze paired with colored contacts worked out decently this time, yielding results I'm quite satisfied with. Although wrapped somewhat muggily by overlapping collars and stacked metal decorations, getting a cosplay outfit that feels comfortable and looks faithful already brings huge joy. In every frame of these Convention photos, I hope to convey the character's native vitality and my love for the world of Genshin Impact.
