[Laffey cosplay] The little bunny in Azur Lane: Lazy and sweet

For this photoshoot, I brought to life Laffey's Bunny girl look from Azur Lane. The overall outfit features a glossy dark blue bodysuit as the centerpiece, paired with a pure white loose drop-shoulder coat and a highly recognizable oversized bunny ear headband, perfectly recreating the character's signature lazy yet innocent aura in this Laffey cosplay.

First, let's talk about the details of this costume. The bodysuit is made of a highly reflective patent-leather or swimsuit-like material; its sheen under softbox lighting is fantastic, beautifully accentuating body contours. The coat's design has great layering; the wide cuffs not only enhance the cuteness of the outfit, but also naturally create a fluffy visual effect when holding them. The plush charms dotting the costume—especially the white little bunnies on the chest and sides, along with the prominent little chick on the abdomen—are the true soul of this Anime cosplay, maxing out the adorable 2D aesthetic. For otaku-favorite characters, faithful recreation of these small accessories is often key to the final shoot's success.

To match Laffey's image of frequently resting or lounging, I chose a seated pose on a wooden chair with legs naturally crossed. This sitting posture showcases the elongation of the White stockings cosplay while highlighting overall body proportions, and the bold contrast between the dark blue bodysuit and white leg stockings is especially eye-catching on camera. Paired with glossy black Mary Jane shoes featuring white bunny ornaments on the toes, the overall styling achieved high completeness. In terms of makeup, I chose a light purple twin-tail wig with a translucent base makeup and pink glossy lip tint, aiming for a soft, cute, yet exquisitely refined visual tone.

The setting for this shoot was also chosen with great care. The background didn't rely on overly complex props, using mainly pure white sheer drapes, vintage white candleholders, and floral arrangements. This bright, warmly toned soft lighting harmonized perfectly with the blue-and-white color palette of the costume without looking dark or heavy. During shooting, the texture of the White stockings was showcased clearly under the soft light; the subtle sheen and overall silky feel translated wonderfully in front of the camera. I was particularly pleased with the composition of this seated shot—the subject centered with balanced negative space above and below, and the doorframe and sheer curtains adding natural depth so the frame doesn't look flat.

Whenever doing a cosplay shoot loaded with detailed accessories, the most energy-draining part is styling and preventing props from falling off. For example, the plush pom-poms on the clothing easily shift when walking or posing, requiring constant adjustment. Furthermore, combining a high-cut bodysuit with a drop-shoulder jacket requires careful control of shoulder drops and fabric folds during snapshots to maintain that light, airy look. Although the shoot required repeated alignment, the final selected edits met all my expectations.

As for wearing this outfit, while it looks breezy and light, the unique nature of the glossy material makes it prone to creases. However, with good lighting, its reflective property became an advantage, making the dark blue sections look clean and richly textured. The light palette of the White stockings cosplay paired with the broad white coat gave my silhouette clean definition without visual noise. I think this crisp visual aesthetic fits Laffey's lovable gap moe in Azur Lane—seeming lethargic on daily occasions yet completely dependable at critical moments. Doing cosplay is indeed both exhausting and joyful; seeing the final retouched photos makes all the effort of adjusting poses and focusing before the camera completely worthwhile. It was a wonderful shoot, and I'm thrilled to share these photos with everyone.
