A portion of the Convention photos from this Azur Lane Cool Festival has finally been retouched. The character I cosplayed this time is Raffaello, whose overall design aligns seamlessly with the lively summer theme. Speaking of the styling nuances, the wig was chosen in long straight light-green fibers with blunt bangs flattering the face contour, paired with a black, white, and pink bunny-ear headband that instantly radiated a bubbly presence upon wearing. The top is a loose-fitting white long-sleeved shirt featuring pink geometric cutout details at the chest for rich visual depth. Black cross straps wind around the waist and chest, accented by a golden star metallic buckle at the center; this black, white, and gold contrast keeps the ensemble vibrant. For the lower half, a white pleated mini-skirt with semi-translucent sheer tulle at the hem offers a lightweight flutter in motion. White stockings style aesthetics were complemented by a white thigh ring on the leg and chunky white platform sneakers, which not only elongated leg proportions but also kept my feet comfortable throughout a full day walking the con floor. The prop in hand was a long-handled paintbrush, serving as a standout highlight of the whole look.
The set dressing was executed with great care. Deep crimson velvet curtains served as the backdrop, paired with a vintage vanity frame glowing with round Edison bulbs to craft a theatrical backstage dressing room mood. The scene featured a red velvet sofa, stacked vintage leather trunks, a disco ball suspended overhead, red-and-black checkerboard flooring in the corner, and scattered balloons, filling the frame with dramatic retro opulence. Coordinating the lighting was equally key: warm incandescent bulbs combined with off-camera flashes lent the composition a rich, cozy texture.
The shoot went smoothly. To project Raffaello's vibrant vitality, I put conscious thought into the posing choreography. In the first shot, I rested one foot on the vintage trunk, holding the paintbrush close to my head with one hand while flashing a V-sign with the other, leaning my torso forward—this highlighted leg definition while giving the silhouette an energetic, spirited stance. Sitting on the red velvet sofa, I crossed my legs and angled my torso slightly toward the lens with a direct gaze, letting the paintbrush drape naturally to emphasize graceful body curves. Several standing shots with one hand on my hip or touching my cheek were chosen to highlight the playful cuteness of the bunny ears.
Maintaining this energy at the convention required thorough preparation. While gorgeous, the layered garment placed certain restrictions on expansive movement, demanding an engaged core during poses. The makeup emphasized pink-toned eyeshadow and glossy lips, which, alongside the light-green wig, illuminated facial radiance under the venue's intense lights. Styling the wig took extra care: slightly curling the hair ends with a curling wand added natural bounce to the straight locks so they draped gracefully over my shoulders and chest without looking rigid.
Reflecting back, the atmosphere at the 2026 Port Midsummer Cool Festival was fantastic. Despite warm temperatures inside the hall, everyone's ACG passion easily outshone the summer heat. Many photographers and fellow fans came by to snap photos and swap cosplay cards, coordinating seamlessly before the lens amidst a steady chorus of shutter clicks. Every time I shoot on location or attend an event, the greatest joy lies in materializing my vision of a character into reality through makeup, costumes, and body language, preserving it all on camera. I love the color grading and compositions in these photos, and I hope you can feel this vibrant summer energy from the Port as well.
