[Shimoe Koharu cosplay] Disciplinary Committee's prohibition sign and Happy Birthday

Sharing this set of Shimoe Koharu cosplay Convention photos! This shoot was done in a rush after finishing overtime work, perfectly catching Koharu baby's birthday. Although put together in a hurry, from prop preparation to makeup and styling, I put dedicated effort into faithfully recreating that stubborn yet adorable Disciplinary Committee image from my impression. During the shoot, the character's signature giant red-and-white prohibition sign and that little red book imprinted with "only you" were brought as core interactive props, yielding quite impressive results.

The overall design of this cosplay costume features a classic black sailor outfit style, fitted with large black wing props on the back. The wig used a light pink twintail style, flanked on both sides of the head by black feather-like headpieces that complement the character's attributes well. The pink-toned halo floating above the head was synthesized in post-production VFX, adding a floating sense of fantasy to the image. For the location, an indoor corridor was selected, where light-colored cool-toned reflective floor tiles combined with the venue's cool-white fluorescent lighting tubes matched the character's atmosphere surprisingly well.

In terms of posing design, the focus was placed on highlighting the character's tsundere yet relaxed side. One full-body photo standing on one leg while lifting the prohibition sign displays overall proportions and styling nicely; another high-angle shot crouching while covering half her face with the book brings out a playful, shy, everyday vibe. Personally, I prefer the seated photo used for the cover—white slouch socks paired with black platform leather shoes and the red-and-black uniform offer excellent visual balance. The wings drape naturally behind, and together with the giant prohibition sign resting slanting on the floor, the composition feels rich and clearly showcases key outfit details.

Convention venue lighting is quite cluttered, requiring various angle adjustments to avoid awkward shadows from overhead lighting. Looking back at these final images, I thoroughly enjoyed communicating camera angles with the photographer at the convention and fine-tuning standing and seated postures. Reflective daylight cool light also challenged lens dynamic range, but fortunately the skin tones and texture control in the final captures were executed well. As an enthusiast who frequently does outdoor shoots, I know deeply that capturing a character's essence relies not only on costume, makeup, and props, but also on infusing the character's personality traits into Cosplay photography.

Although this outfit didn't feel overly heavy, the giant prohibition sign took up a lot of space. Walking around the venue meant carefully avoiding passersby and booths, and holding it up during shooting gave my arms quite a workout! Yet this is part of the character's charm—when holding the sign, despite physical fatigue, my mental state immediately locked into the role. Holding that little red book in hand or tucking it into my chest always added a narrative touch to the frame.

These final photos primarily serve to record this modest birthday milestone, representing a dedicated answer to my passion for 2D Cosplay. As long as one crafts a character with heart, every freeze-frame in front of the lens will be vibrant with life.
