Wearing this Millennium Science School cheerleader uniform at the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo felt distinctly different from the usual. From early morning preparations, the primary focus was ensuring the bright yellow halo could float stably right above my forehead, while seamlessly coordinating with the blue transparent visor and the pair of large, fluffy animal ears. I adjusted the fastener positions multiple times. The dark gray twintail wig itself had substantial volume, requiring careful fluffy styling to maintain balance with the ear accessories. For makeup, I captured the character's prominent eye styling, using red eyeshadow and heterochromia lenses to create a visual focal point, aligning with her lively yet slightly mysterious personality. The cut of the outfit adopts a sporty, breezy style: the white halter top with blue geometric color-blocking is instantly recognizable. The cropped waist design has strict requirements for posture and waistlines, so I made sure to check the fit thoroughly before shooting. The neckline features blue-and-white striped ribbons and a small metal bell accessory that emits a faint chime when walking—even in the bustling convention hall, this subtle detail provided a wonderful sense of immersion. The pleated skirt maintains the blue-and-white color palette, featuring a vertical 'MILLENNIUM' school logo print on the side, complete with white safety shorts so I could perform dynamic poses with peace of mind. On my feet, I paired white platform lace-up sneakers with solid sole support, making long hours of walking and standing around the convention hall fairly effortless. Because this look reveals quite a bit of skin, I did basic skincare beforehand to ensure the skin tone on my arms and legs looked smooth, radiant, and even under intense lighting. Besides the glowing halo, the bright yellow cheerleader pom-poms in my hands were custom-made—wonderfully fluffy and soft with a satisfying tactile weight. During the shoot, the pom-poms served not only as cheerleading props but also as natural foreground elements to add depth and layers to the frame. Especially during close-ups, lifting the pom-poms in front of the face created color contrast between the yellow fluffy texture and facial makeup, guiding the viewer's eye nicely. The shoot took place on-site at the Guangzhou Firefly ACG Expo. The hall was expansive, lit predominantly by sunlight filtering through the ceiling, resulting in sharp contrast between light and shadow. Photographer @-ChangshengJian was very adept at utilizing this ambient light, guiding me through dynamic actions like spinning, kneeling, and extending pom-poms to capture some expressive shots. The snapshots of standing poses and frozen kneeling moments preserved athleticism without causing wardrobe malfunctions from big movements. Walking through the venue, I often met eyes with players who recognized the character enthusiastically, making interactions feel natural and relaxing. While wearing such a breezy outfit in crowds requires keeping an eye on skirt adjustments and prop handling, I didn't feel constrained in such an inclusive convention environment. Every cosplay offers a unique experience; for sporty characters like this, bringing out that vibrant energy requires not only props and costumes, but also tuning one's inner mindset to maintain a bright, cheerful mood. Before doing this cosplay, I studied many official concept artworks and carefully analyzed the styling details of this cheerleader outfit. Once worn, the combination of cropped top and pleated skirt offered great flexibility for expansive cheerleading or action poses. During breaks, the photographer and I discussed how to keep the composition authentic to the convention ambiance without losing character traits, finalizing these practical angles and paths. I love the state captured in the final photos—from the natural light texture on the hair to the cheerful tone of the yellow pom-poms, it captured her relaxed yet focused essence. If these photos let everyone feel the cheering passion from Millennium Science School, that would be the most fulfilling reward of this cosplay share.
