Today I'm sharing this light blue and white color-blocked pure studio shoot set. When I first received this outfit, I felt it carried that light, soft, cute texture typical of 2D aesthetics, and the actual result at Changsha Miku COS Photography Studio turned out even more refreshing than anticipated.
Let's break down the design details of this blue and white outfit. The top is a particularly spacious white cape-style tunic with a large Peter Pan doll collar, bordered with wide light blue gingham ruffles that enrich collar layering while making the upper body look rounded and cute. Front pocket edges are similarly accented with this blue and white gingham, achieving high visual harmony between pure white and light blue. A thin light blue drawstring with a small silver button sits at the chest, adding a touch of refinement to the simple wide neckline. The cuffs feature a short, puffy design, revealing the blue and white striped fingerless sleeve covers underneath. This inclusion of striped elements breaks the monotony of the gingham, enriching the overall color rhythm.
For the bottom, I chose multi-layered ruffle shorts in matching blue and white gingham, layered with white safety shorts inside—a multi-layered styling highly characteristic of 2D attire. As for leg accessories, I paired white over-the-knee socks with leg garters adorned with tiny white bows. Since both the top and shorts are relatively loose, the leg garters provide visual cinching, making proportions look more balanced while highlighting stocking textures and leg lines. The leg warmers at the bottom are also eye-catching, featuring stacked white sleeves with blue and white gingham ruffles at the hem; this stacked volume echoes the upper body's loose silhouette. Paired with platform white shoes, the overall look achieves a broad-yet-balanced visual effect that remains fluffy top and bottom.
Regarding the wig and makeup, I opted for a light gray-blue gradient wig with straight bangs and face-framing sideburns—a hairstyle perfect for conveying docility. To complement the soft, adorable temperament, I chose pink-toned eyeshadow and blush with a natural light pink lip shade, emphasizing a clear, lively complexion without heavy shading or eyeliner to capture that super cute atmosphere.
As for the shoot process, huge thanks go to photographer WiFi. We used a light gray-blue solid backdrop at Changsha Miku COS Photography Studio, matching my blue and white outfit like a dream—highly unified in tone without washing each other out. A white round pedestal supported my feet, making standing poses look dynamic and natural. WiFi was super professional with studio lighting, deploying large-area softboxes so that ruffle textures and fabric folds stood out crisp and three-dimensional. In terms of pose guidance, we tested several physical postures to select these final stills.
During shooting, the oversized tunic somewhat restricted arm range, so we took care when adjusting body movements. Poses like resting one hand lightly on the head while holding the waist, or standing on one leg while gesturing playfully, aimed to bypass garment stiffness and convey a relaxed, vibrant spirit. The second composition extended the leg lines nicely through over-the-knee socks and garters, while platform shoes added height for a slender proportion. The pose in the first photo, raising one leg with arms outstretched, beautifully displayed the garment's airy flow.
The day before the official shoot, I had a test fitting with the wig and costume, realizing how much the garment's texture and cut depended on studio lighting. Harsh lights could easily blow out white areas and erase details, but Miku Studio's lighting control perfectly preserved fabric textures, blue and white gingham blocks, and striped sleeve colors. The final set required no exaggerated post-processing, achieving the rich, raw 2D feel I envisioned.
Additionally, shooting at Changsha Miku COS Photography Studio was a very comfortable experience. The studio space was generous enough to accommodate photography gear and full-body character movements smoothly.
