Today I'm sharing this set of black-and-white uniform style photos shot in a white studio. The overall direction of this shoot was exceptionally clear: to explore the striking visual impact of minimalist monochrome aesthetics against a pure white cyclorama. The outfit is a black-and-white dress featuring a white lace Peter Pan collar paired with a black necktie. White decorative piping and metallic buttons adorn the chest, while a black waist belt with a silver metal buckle cinches the waistline cleanly. The hemline of the skirt is also lined with a white border that echoes the upper bodice elements. Down below, white stockings complete the styling, keeping the palette strictly within black and white to channel an authentic anime-style fashion ambiance.
For the wig, long straight black hair with blunt bangs served as the foundation, accented with a light blonde streak dip-dyed into the right side—this detail popped brilliantly against the pure black hair, breaking up any visual monotony. In terms of makeup, I deepened the shading beneath the lower lash line; paired with dark pupils, the eyes projected a cool, aloof detachment that perfectly complemented this subtly gothic style monochrome uniform aesthetic.
The shooting location was a white studio, where the seamless pure white cyclorama background kept the composition immaculately clean, free from clutter or distractions. For lighting, we utilized large-area diffused softboxes to ensure even illumination across the face without harsh, unflattering shadows. In terms of props, I specifically chose a black leather sofa featuring tufted buttons and metallic rivets. The sleek sheen of the leather and the cold rigidity of the rivets created a rich textural contrast against the dress fabric and white stockings, elevating the depth of the frame.
For the first pose, I sat on the sofa leaning slightly back, resting one hand on the armrest and letting the other drop naturally onto the skirt hem. The key here was allowing the legs to extend forward naturally, creating an absolute territory between the over-the-knee socks and the mini skirt to visually elongate leg proportions. Crossing the legs or keeping them neatly together accentuated the contours of the legs, while the sofa height let my feet rest or hover comfortably without straining calf muscles. Keeping my expression relaxed with eyes raised slightly toward the lens fostered a languid yet subtly commanding aura.
The second pose was seated on the floor, gathering my bent knees close, resting my folded hands near the knees, and pointing my toes slightly outward. Compared to the sofa, this posture felt more reserved and demure while catching ambient reflections from the floor to brighten the lower half. I adjusted my balance so the skirt fanned out naturally, revealing subtle black lace trim underneath to inject a hint of mystery. The snug fit of the white stockings was beautifully showcased here, visually extending into the white floor.
Overall, this white studio photography session was a rigorous test of lighting control; high contrast between black and white can easily lead to blown-out highlights or crushed shadows without precise exposure. The photographer and I continually fine-tuned the light angles to ensure the white lines and delicate lace trims remained crisp while the black fabric retained its textural depth.
