[Rapi cosplay] Goddess of Victory: Nikke: Refreshing Summer Swimsuit Cosplay Look Share

The theme of this shoot is the summer Swimsuit cosplay look of Rapi from Goddess of Victory: Nikke, a refreshing outdoor style I've long wanted to try. To recreate Rapi's summer design, I prepared a color-blocked short-sleeved cover-up. The sleeves are a vibrant teal-blue, transitioning seamlessly into the white bodice and the pale purple gradient on the chest, complete with the detailed '01' character print on the left side. The bottom is paired with a red string bikini; this bold red, white, blue, and purple color clash vividly captures the original character's visual motifs in this Beach outfit.

For the wig, I selected vibrant, high-saturation bright red long hair, accented on top with her distinctive black fork-shaped hair accessory. Matched with slightly deep red-toned eye makeup and matching red contact lenses, her gaze conveys a subtle sense of her characteristic composure even in calm tranquility. A black choker enhances overall styling layers, while white-rimmed sunglasses perched on top add a relaxed vacation vibe to the minimalist look.

The shooting location chosen for these photos was a beach with crystal-clear waters. Natural light on the day was exceptionally abundant—a bright setting perfectly suited to capture the translucent quality unique to Summer photography. White foam rushing across the sand formed a crisp color contrast against the clear sea. Standing barefoot on the shoreline, feeling the cool ocean waves gently wash over my ankles helped me slip into character effortlessly. To capture natural action shots, candid moments like lifting the shirt's hem to reveal the waistline were captured in split seconds—a pose that highlights the breezy freshness of the Swimsuit cosplay without feeling contrived.

My personal favorite is the close-up shot holding the coconut: holding a plump white coconut, sipping on a yellow straw, with sunglasses propped on my head. In this state, Rapi looks more like an ordinary girl relaxing casually on vacation, creating a wonderful gap-moe contrast with her usual combat-ready persona. When taking this shot, emotional delivery in the eyes was paramount, needing to convey a sense of serene ease and focused immersion.

For cosplayers tackling summer seaside themes, sun protection and hydration are the top priorities. The ocean breeze constantly whips at the wig, so securing the wig and hair ornaments required immense care—wind clips and plenty of hairspray were essential, as frizz or displacement would ruin the overall aesthetic of the shot. Fine beach sand also clings stubbornly to skin and props, needing constant wiping and cleaning.

During makeup application, ensuring long-lasting waterproof base makeup was crucial, as hot and humid coastal air easily leads to makeup melting. Throughout the shoot, I minimized prolonged single exposures under harsh sunlight to ensure my energy and makeup stayed pristine. Many who view cosplay photos only see the picturesque beauty of the final cuts, but the backstage logistics are remarkably tedious.

In post-processing color grading, I leaned toward lowering contrast and lifting brightness, granting the overall frame a refreshing, ethereal soft-light aesthetic. This gentle color palette, paired with her vibrant red hair, anchors the visual focus cleanly without color clutter. Relaxed hand gestures also enriched the composition, where holding the coconut guided visual flow smoothly.

When portraying Rapi (Rapi cosplay), I consciously sought a state that looked more relaxed while keeping her gaze keenly focused. In her Swimsuit cosplay look, Rapi sheds the tense, combat-hardened edge of everyday battle, yet her inherent resilience and stoic calm remain intact. That is precisely the most rewarding aspect of cosplay: showcasing a lesser-known side of a character's personality without betraying her core essence. It is never just about changing clothes, but offering an interpretation and presentation of another possibility for the character.

Post-shoot makeup removal and prop cleanup remained a massive chore, especially rinsing clothes caked in sand and saltwater with copious fresh water. Yet, seeing those captured moments in the final cuts makes every bit of hard work worthwhile.
