[Langley II cosplay] Azur Lane's Summer Special Training: Requesting Commander's Orders

"Could it be that the Commander wants private tutoring?" This line really suits this summer swimsuit theme. Actually, while shooting this set, I kept thinking about the character Langley II in Azur Lane. Although her original setting seems quite serious, after putting on this Girl's swimsuit, her overall aura becomes extremely refreshing and adorable.

The biggest challenge for this shoot was actually the sunlight. Direct raw lighting was very harsh; the noon sun hit unmercifully, and although "sunlight is the best filter," for photography, finding angles and avoiding overexposure became the top priority. We specifically selected an outdoor rooftop location against clear blue skies, white clouds, and tropical palm trees, accented with light blue rattan chairs and a white round table, instantly creating a full summer vacation atmosphere for this Summer Film.

To faithfully recreate the character for this Langley II cosplay, I specially prepared mint green hair styled into fluffy twin-tails, paired with long red ribbons, white satin bows, an eye-catching yellow chick hair clip atop my head, and these thin silver round-framed glasses. I must say, the glasses are truly the soul of the look—wearing them instantly added an intellectual yet playful touch. There are many small accessories: red straps, blue velcro on the wrists, and pink coiled wristbands, which actually added quite a bit of difficulty when posing, as I had to be careful not to mess them up.

Talking about this pink swimsuit, its design details are very rich. The upper piece features a classic white sailor collar with dark trim, adorned with a red bow and star badge at the chest, giving it a preppy, almost secret agent vibe. The lower half splices white and pink ruffles, paired with white thigh rings and thick-soled white bow sandals, stretching overall body proportions just right. White thigh rings and shoe straps form a great visual echo, making the overall outfit feel cohesive.

The blue-purple gradient transparent inflatable swim ring in hand is also a finishing touch, glowing with blue-purple luster under the sun with its "summer party" text and star-wave patterns. Because the swim ring is transparent, it relies heavily on lighting; to make it look crystal clear, we repeatedly adjusted angles during the shoot, as slight misalignments would cause harsh glare or look dirty.

Before setting out, I was a bit worried because outdoor summer lighting is unpredictable. Although shooting in bright sunlight brings out vibrant colors, overly intense light easily creates harsh shadows. To preserve image texture, we relied almost entirely on direct natural light without extra fill lights. The photographer kept an eye on highlight areas, afraid that clipped highlights couldn't be recovered in post. The hardest part was controlling my eyes, as eyes easily squint in blazing sunlight, so I had to make an effort to keep them wide open to maintain clear, bright eyes.

Reflecting on Langley II, she possesses both an instructive attitude toward the Commander and a lively summer side. Thus, in this Swimsuit cosplay set, I deliberately combined both traits. For instance, putting on thin-framed glasses looks very scholarly, but pairing them with this pink swimsuit and twin-tails brings out a delightful gap-moe contrast. That's what I find most fascinating about cosplay—capturing different facets of a character's personality.

Post-processing for this set wasn't overly exaggerated; it mainly unified color tones, making the blue sky clearer, giving skin a fair and bright look while retaining the tactile quality of sunlight hitting the body. Red neckties, green hair, pink attire—these high-saturation colors blended beautifully under natural light without feeling chaotic. An outdoor Swimsuit cosplay topic like this really tests endurance because you're constantly running, jumping, posing, and carrying a large swim ring on the rooftop. Towards the end, I truly felt the hardship of outdoor summer shoots under the scorching sun. However, seeing the final photos brimming with summer vibes made everything completely worth it.
