The lighting at the exhibition venue was quite complex, but fortunately the photographer desaturated the background into monochrome, flawlessly accentuating the color gradients of the blue wig and costume to give these photos a pure, stage-like ambiance in Anime-style photography. The first shot adopts a low-angle perspective where the single-leg standing pose paired with the high-slit skirt and leg-strap design maximized the elongation of leg lines, while clear-heeled high heels enhanced the overall translucent feel. Under this wide perspective, the spread of the skirt hem and tassels looked incredible, requiring conscious core engagement during shooting to maintain center-of-gravity balance. The second shot is a seated glance over the shoulder; the twist of the torso precisely showcases back contours and costume details, such as the green gemstone accessory at the waist and the textured belt.
Preparing this costume beforehand took considerable effort. The long blue curly wig required layering and grooming repeatedly to ensure the white horn ornaments on top stayed firmly in place without slipping. The blue straps on the legs tend to loosen easily; to prevent them from slipping down in crowded convention halls, I secured them internally with plenty of clear fashion tape. The lightweight fabric flutters in the air when walking, creating a spirited and ethereal dynamic, though it presented quite a challenge when hunting for angles in confined convention spaces.
During shooting, we primarily utilized overhead convention hall lighting and reflections between pillars. Although the surroundings were crowded and chaotic, the black-and-white background treatment neatly filtered out distractions. The shooting experience was very enjoyable—patiently scouting camera angles while continually fine-tuning hand gestures and gaze, ultimately yielding two photos that harmonize compositional elegance with character temperament. Capturing clean Convention photos at an anime expo is never easy, requiring dodging crowds in advance and snapping frames swiftly. Choosing classic standing and seated poses this time aimed to better showcase the garment's design aesthetics. Through the synergy of lighting, perspective, and post-processing, we brought out Lauma's defining traits as a Cosplayer. Overall, this was a successful convention shoot; although wearing high heels was exhausting and the straps left marks on my legs, seeing the rich texture in the final images made it completely worthwhile.
