[The Shorekeeper Cosplay] Blue Starlight Convention Photos from Beijing iDo Anime Convention

The convention photos from Beijing iDo Anime Convention are finally sorted out. For The Shorekeeper cosplay this time, the blue-and-white color scheme actually put the fabric to the test under the venue lighting. If the light is too harsh, the large areas of light colors and translucent blue ribbons can easily become overexposed or cause messy reflections. Therefore, the photographer's lighting setup was very meticulous, using a key light to outline the contours and a backlight to shine through the light blue sheer fabric, allowing the ribbons to show a flowing texture even when static.

For the wig, I chose a light blue matte material, paired with slightly airy bangs, and the ends were trimmed to be rather wispy so it wouldn't feel too heavy when moving around the venue. To match the character's cool and aloof traits, I skipped the usual heavy eyeliner and instead used light blue eyeshadow for blending to fuse with the overall tone of the outfit. For the lip color, I went with a low-saturation nude pink.

The convention environment on-site was indeed very complex. Looking at the softboxes, suitcases, and other passing attendees in the background, you can really feel the high foot traffic of the day. The photographer used a large aperture to blur the background and lock the central focus on the main subject. This way, it conveys the atmosphere of the convention photos while preventing cluttered elements from stealing the character's spotlight.

Since we mainly chose standing poses for the shoot, every movement actually required maintaining core strength. Especially for that one-legged raised pose, the balance completely relied on tightening the core, combined with the small prop in hand to stabilize the posture and ensure the ribbons were in their best position the moment the shutter clicked. The other sets of standing poses were also quite a test of posture; the shoulders and neck had to be relaxed and dropped to express that light, flowing, and naturally breezy feel of the blue-and-white dress.

Regarding this outfit, the partial waist-baring design on the upper body combined with the layered collar stacking actually took a lot of thought in pattern making. The irregular white-and-blue patchwork on the hem, along with the long ribbons extending from both sides, makes it exceptionally dynamic when walking or when a breeze blows. The paired white high-heeled sandals with criss-cross straps visually elongate the proportions of the lower body, making my figure look slenderer and more upright.

Doing cosplay at large offline exhibitions like the Beijing iDo Anime Convention requires not only preparing makeup, hair, and costumes but also being mentally prepared for various stares and shutter sounds. The air conditioning in the North and the through-winds in the South affect the ribbons differently; sometimes the outdoor hot wind makes the ribbons flutter irregularly due to the heatwaves. Fortunately, the light inside the Beijing exhibition hall was relatively stable, and combined with the photographer's snapshots, we finally selected this relatively satisfying set of standing convention photos. As a share of convention photos, I hope everyone can feel the design details of this cosplay outfit through the images and record the pleasant memories of this convention. The overall aura of the work produced this time fits the character's feel quite well. Although there are no complex movements, static standing poses are relatively difficult to capture. Being able to present the layers and flowing elegance of the costume makes this convention photo experience completely worthwhile.
