How to compensate for centuries of solitude? Perhaps only warm interactions like these under bright sunlight can make time meaningful. For this issue's Narukami Group duo Outdoor photography, we spent immense effort crafting the atmosphere from early morning preparation to afternoon wrap-up.

Let's talk about the character outfits first. The purple costume's wide sleeves and obi feature exceptional texture. Though the necklines and bracers have intricate layers that took quite some time to wear, the matte fabric paired with gold lining looked extraordinarily refined under natural outdoor light. The pink outfit's red-and-white color blocking matched with an off-the-shoulder cut shone brightly under sunlight, while accessories and earrings added a vibrant flair. Wigs were adjusted specifically so hair fluffiness catches the wind naturally, fitting our vision of a still yet lively state.

We selected a traditional courtyard as our Outdoor photography location. Beyond classic paper umbrella gaze exchanges, we tried various interaction angles. For example, sitting together on the wooden bench in the photos allowed natural sunlight to stream across shoulders and legs, creating a lovely visual contrast between black tights and white skirts. Without forced poses, simple eye contact conveyed profound emotion. Another close-up shot with a gentle head-pat backlit by soft lighting pulled the atmospheric vibe to its peak. During the shoot, we slowed down movements to capture moments in rhythm with natural breezes and light paths, preventing stiff poses.

In terms of camera language, this set experimented with multiple compositions, ranging from wide shots establishing surroundings to detailed interaction close-ups. For post-processing retouching, we avoided heavy filters, focusing instead on restoring raw fabric colors and skin textures to keep frames clean, transparent, and natural, preserving authentic character presence and delicate shadow layers under sunlight.

Since this content centered on duo interactions, we invested significant thought into emotional expression. Pose designs—from playing with hair ends and sharing an umbrella to sitting for conversation—aimed to depict serene calm earned after centuries. Plenty of fun incidents happened during shooting, such as strong gusts messing up wigs, yet those imperfect moments made shots feel lively.

Being able to materialize the bond and everyday warmth of character lores inside a leafy ancient-style courtyard was a deeply fulfilling experience. Looking at the flowing light and shadow in these photos, one can truly feel those two souls spanning centuries softly reuniting in reality through this Raiden Shogun cosplay and Yae Miko cosplay.
