[Yumemizuki Mizuki Cosplay] An Elf Morning Under the Cherry Blossom Trees

Before the shoot started, I spent a long time adjusting the position of the elf ears to ensure they wouldn't look distorted due to angle issues during low-angle shots under the cherry trees. This time, I chose a long straight cyan wig with very neatly trimmed blunt bangs resting right above the eyebrows, which I feel is the part that best reflects the character's temperament. The purple contact lenses translucent tone under natural light appeared slightly lighter than indoors, which, paired with pink-toned eyeshadow, made my gaze look gentler rather than sharp.

The outdoor location was chosen in a cherry blossom grove in full bloom. The morning sunlight carried a cool blue hue that hit the petals and hair strands to create soft diffuse reflection, which is precisely why I deliberately picked this time slot for shooting. The costume worn features pink and white color-blocked fabric, with light pink as the main body, a white inner lining at the collar, and purple pinstripe stitching at the shoulders and front placket, giving it a rich sense of layering. A golden bell pendant hangs around the neck, which stays silent while walking, but visually adds to the character's elf-like charm.

The dark bow on the left arm serves as one of the visual centerpieces of the entire look. To accurately recreate the game setting, I specifically ordered a custom-made circular badge with a purple swirl texture placed on it. Although such accessories look great, attention must be paid to arm placement angles during shooting, or they can easily be blocked by the body. I love this design-oriented outfit; it not only fits the dreamy forest vibe, but the pink color palette also blends harmoniously against the spring sakura background. The floral and white lace headpiece on top of the head makes the overall hair styling much fuller rather than a plain wig.

Regarding pose design, I habituate gently touching the ends of my hair with my hand, which not only makes the hair look fluffier and more natural, but also allows the arm lines to form a nice diagonal across the frame. During shooting, the photographer used soft lighting; although the cherry trees in the background were blurred out, clustered flower buds on the branches remained visible. To avoid over-relying on post-processing, we ensured the lighting setup and garment smoothness were done right beforehand, as cosplay quality ultimately lies in the presentation of details.

For the character Yumemizuki Mizuki, I mainly wanted to express her quiet yet energetic presence in the forest as a Genshin Impact cosplayer. Although waking up early was tough, seeing fallen blossoms scattered across the ground in the morning light instantly recharged my energy. The makeup wasn't overly heavy, focusing instead on a natural blend of blush and lip color to complement the character's inherently gentle nature, rather than using heavy eyeliner to outline contours.

While shooting this set of photos, I kept reminding myself to stay relaxed and casual, as stiff expressions often ruin the overall atmosphere. Strands of hair occasionally blown by the wind or a momentary glance downward felt closer to the character than deliberately rehearsed poses. This shoot mainly revolved around cherry blossoms and morning light for a dreamy Sakura Photograph, keeping the image colors unified in a low-saturation pink, white, and cyan color palette.

Tidying up the seams of the wig and clothing is also a step that must be double-checked before going on an outdoor location shoot every time. This outfit's sleeve cuffs are designed quite loosely, making arm movements very convenient without feeling restricted. The belt part is tied relatively high, which helps elongate lower body proportions. To match the overall elf cosplay aesthetic, in addition to fake ears, I used highlighters appropriately on the nose bridge and cheekbones to give my facial 3D structure that anime character feel.

Naturally, the light wasn't too direct early in the shoot, which was perfectly suited for showcasing this soft and dreamy style. I don't particularly enjoy deliberately making cool expressions; a gentle smile is actually best for bridging the gap between 2D and reality. Standing under the flowering trees and imagining myself truly in a forest surrounded by floral fragrance and gentle breezes helped my state become truly natural.

Some preparation work, like adjusting wig net comfort and ear hook tightness, directly affects shooting mood. If something is squeezed too tight, smiles can easily become forced. Luckily, the props and costume coordination this time were relatively lightweight—without heavy weapons or thick bulky cloaks—making the shooting process very relaxed.

Compositionally speaking, upper-body close-ups highlight the subject's gaze, facial makeup, and key accessories very well. The cherry blossom branch at the upper right blurred as a foreground element enriches the image without stealing the spotlight. I'm overall satisfied with this outdoor shoot, especially how the lighting complemented the sakura colors to fully showcase the gentle nature of Yumemizuki Mizuki, preserving a unique visual memory for my morning.
