Putting on this black, red, and white battlesuit of the Herrscher of Thunder, paired with the red-and-black gradient horns atop my head, my immediate impression was just how exquisitely crafted this gear truly is. Choosing to cosplay Raiden Mei for the milestone of the Honkai Impact 3rd 10th Anniversary felt like a deep personal dedication. The garment's pattern drafting holds countless details: the geometric cutouts on the chest, the white corset cincher at the waist, and the asymmetrical hemline all needed to be smoothed down meticulously prior to shooting, otherwise they could easily appear bulky. The fluffy white plush tail behind me and the red armor plates at the hips also required repeated fine-tuning before finding their optimal mounting angles.

The wig featured vibrant purple flowing locks with thick blunt bangs; to ensure a snug fit around my head, I added substantial structural reinforcement to the inner cap. The twin horns mounted at the crown were crafted from a composite of EVA foam and resin, finished with a red-to-black gradient lacquer. While visually striking, they carried noticeable weight, demanding neck engagement throughout the shoot to maintain their angle. The blue-purple greatsword in my hands served as the absolute visual focal point of this set. For the blade's surging wave contours and the red-gold-black filigree structure on the hilt to pop before the lens, we incorporated pearlescent pigments into the paint, which cast breathtaking specular refractions under the lights.

Collaborating with Jade this time, our primary camera body was the Nikon Z50 II. The set was decorated with crimson velvet curtains and a floor blanketed in red blossoms. To inject visual tension into the frame, we leaned heavily into high-contrast black-and-red dynamics. The Nikon Z50 II's color rendition and dynamic range performed remarkably; even against expansive fields of dark red, facial skin tones and shadow details within the black garments remained beautifully preserved. The lighting setup emphasized edge definition, carving out the dimensional presence of the purple hair against the crimson backdrop.

To enrich stylistic layering, I opted for white over-the-knee Stockings paired with black high-heeled ankle boots. In seated, leg-raised postures, this pairing elegantly flattered the leg contours and lengthened proportions while providing tactile textural contrast against the rigid black-and-red armor up top. The Herrscher of Thunder carries an inherently commanding aura, meaning my gaze needed to convey sharp intensity while my hands had to channel physical power to steady the greatsword. While refining my stances, I constantly contemplated her effortless yet oppressive poise. After all, the greatsword was genuinely heavy, and locking in my core was essential to make the actions look poised and organic.

From discussing tailoring details to the final deliverables, this set documents my evolving interpretation of the character at this stage. A character's presence relies not only on styling, but also on shooting presence and lighting harmony. The 10th anniversary of Honkai Impact 3rd is a momentous milestone, and bringing this iconic look of Raiden Mei as the Herrscher of Thunder to life with such high fidelity made for an immensely fulfilling cosplay experience.
