[Remilia Scarlet cosplay] Dark Banquet & Languid Moments at the Scarlet Devil Mansion | Touhou Project

The concept for this shoot portrays the vampire mistress of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, where the red backdrop and warm candlelight contrast to create a moody, shadowy atmosphere. The blue bob wig required a bit of patience to style; shaping the curls with layered volume was essential to capture the character's youthful yet noble aura. The most time-consuming makeup steps were the red eye accents and eyeshadow—careful blending at the edges, combined with vibrant red contact lenses, gave the gaze a look that was both sharp and languid. The costume features heavily detailed pink lace with multiple ruffled tiers that required extra care to avoid snagging, while the black wings were built on a wire frame that, despite being a bit heavy, held a stunning silhouette. Props included a goblet, red apples, silver platters, a skull, and a candelabra. I discussed various poses with photographer Sanyue Deban, and our favorite was the shot where I rested my chin on my hand while raising the glass—spacing out my gaze, tilting the glass slightly, and resting my index finger near my lips to evoke the nonchalant yet dangerous feeling of a vampire dining. The initial lighting was kept cool to enhance the contrast against the red backdrop, while later candlelit setups introduced warm ambient light that softened the facial highlights and shadows. Exploring this Gothic Lolita style was a true test of emotional expression; it demanded stepping into a ruler's commanding perspective without looking overly rigid. The red-and-white contrast read wonderfully on camera. While shooting in such an elaborate gown all day was exhausting, seeing the final visual results made it immensely rewarding.
