This Identity V Gardener Early clear sky cosplay outfit had been finished for some time, simply waiting for the right setting and lighting. The shoot took place inside a glass conservatory featuring an indoor water setup, which ideally matched the poetic ambience of shimmering waters under clearing skies.

Looking into the details of the outfit, the main piece is a modified qipao in off-white leaning toward a pale yellow, with delicate green lace trim along the collar, cuffs, and hem. The embroidery across the bodice was the focal point—birds stitched in green and blue alongside floral motifs that offer tangible dimension. To fit this design, I selected a short reddish-brown curly wig. For makeup, beyond the signature blue contacts, I painted faint freckles across the cheeks to evoke a natural, playful, and slightly vintage aesthetic.

For accessories, the straw hat was undoubtedly the crowning touch. The yellow lace brim and green ribbon matched the palette of the garment, though the ring of hanging pearl chains proved the most troublesome, frequently tangling with the slightest movement and requiring constant untangling. However, when the light hit those pearls and the tassels on the attire, the delicate luster looked stunning on camera. Pairing White stockings with white bow-knot flat shoes introduced a touch of youthful lightness to the entire look.

The shooting process was more tiring than expected. Sitting on a stone stool required balancing the drape of the skirt with leg lines, demanding repeated posture adjustments. For the pose in photo three where I touched the hat's brim with one hand, we tested multiple angles to capture natural lens flares and the right expression. The backlighting on set was intense, with sunlight cascading from the upper left across the water surface and adjacent branches. The photographer used lens flare and airborne dust motes to produce dreamy bokeh circles.

In terms of props, both an oil-paper umbrella and a translucent round fan were incorporated. The placement of the umbrella required careful composition—resting diagonally across the grass, it filled the negative space nicely; holding the fan required partially veiling the face while keeping the eyes expressive. The artificial indoor pool was planted with lotus flowers, and together with stone stools and moss on the floor, it established a Jiangnan water-town aesthetic that formed an interesting visual dialogue with the modern glass doors in the background.

Overall, the color grading and lighting in this series were kept restrained without exaggerated stylization, focusing primarily on the texture of the garments and harmony with the surroundings. My biggest takeaway was how beautifully lightweight chiffon looks against backlight; despite the tedious adjustments on set, seeing the final images made every effort worthwhile.
