[Rem cosplay] Kitty Rem, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- maid daily life

This time's kitty Rem was truly a very happy attempt. Ever since I got this black-and-white color-blocked maid outfit, I've been pondering how to combine a cat's laziness with Rem's inherent docility. To fit the kitty setting, I deliberately chose this light blue wig with airy bangs, and trimmed the ends more roundedly to create that fluffy visual effect. In terms of headwear, besides the included white lace headband, I added cat ears, and embellished the side with white flowers and pink bows, which preserves the character's recognizability while adding the cat's soft and cute vibe.

In terms of makeup, today's focus is on a translucent and slightly innocent route. The contact lenses chose high-vividness bright blue, and the eye makeup emphasized the aegyo-sal (under-eye fat) and eyelashes, with a slightly upturned outer corner of the eye, paired with a faint blush under the eye, creating a lively and playful feline expression. To match this outfit, I also prepared a light blue fluffy tail. During the shoot, I tried to keep the body's natural curve so that the tail could naturally blend into the frame without looking too abrupt.

The shooting location was chosen as an indoor realistic studio in Dongguan. The white rattan sofa, lace curtains, and the warm-yellow natural light filtering through the window made the entire atmosphere very soft. To reflect Rem's daily feel, the photographer and I discussed many details of prop interaction. For example, the sitting posture of holding a teacup and a small cake, keeping movements light, fingers gently resting on the rim of the cup, and gazing naturally at the lens without over-positioning. For the one lying on the sofa, I used my elbow to support my body and my other hand to prop my chin, which not only showcased the lace details on the chest and cuffs of the maid outfit, but also allowed the body lines to stretch more comfortably. The white teddy bear wearing a light blue sweater placed on the sofa also became a great accent, increasing the sense of everyday life in the frame.

Regarding the costume pairing, White stockings over-the-knee socks matched with black Mary Jane shoes visually elongated the leg proportions very well. Those standing shots lifting the skirt hem were also meant to better showcase the texture of the White stockings and the layering of the entire outfit. The black-and-white alternate skirt hem plus layers of lace had a fantastic texture under the lighting.

The lighting for this shoot really helped a lot. Backlight and side-backlight made the hair strands and the fluffy tail glow with a halo, but it also required extreme delicacy in lighting. I needed to continuously confirm the light position with the photographer to avoid overexposure losing the lace texture of the costume, ensuring every photo has a dreamy light feel while clearly seeing the details of the clothes. Although the whole process required constantly adjusting postures and skirt hems, seeing the finished photos made everything worth it. This Dongguan photoshoot booking experience also gave me more insights into indoor high-key photography, and I hope to try more different styles in the future.
