[Rem cosplay] Angel Rem in a White dress: Convention photos Showcase

The Convention photos from this comic convention have finally been organized! This time, I cosplayed the angelic version of Rem (Angel Rem). When deciding on this look, I mainly wanted to explore a visual aesthetic different from before—one leaning towards pure, gentle innocence. Preparing this costume took careful thought: from styling the wig to tweaking the clothing details, every step was aimed at matching the angelic theme as closely as possible.

The wig was a short light-blue bob, cut with layered bangs and side locks to make the overall silhouette appear crisp and neat. For makeup, I applied a clean, luminous base, putting the emphasis on eye makeup: using blue contact lenses paired with soft, light-toned eyeshadow to give the gaze a gentler touch. The costume was an all-pure White dress, with lavish lace and ruffle accents around the neckline and cuffs. Fastened to the back were a pair of custom feathered wings crafted from specialized materials, adding significant visual volume. The halo atop my head was attached to the wig using a thin support rod, which meant paying extra attention to the space above and behind me while moving through the crowded convention halls to prevent the prop from bumping into things or catching onto passersby.

In my arms, I held a giant white star-shaped plush pillow, which was a crucial component of the styling. It not only diversified my body language during shooting, but also relieved the awkwardness of idle hands, giving the overall presentation a much more interactive feel. The convention floor was bustling and the lighting conditions were quite complex. For Convention photos, we tried our best to locate corners where ambient natural light was relatively even, using a wide-aperture lens to blur out the background crowds and booths. Under the overhead venue lights, pure white fabric is prone to overexposure, so I was constantly adjusting my angles during the shoot, utilizing architectural shadows and bounced reflections to balance the exposure. Posing with the pillow while adjusting my posture, I alternated between looking straight into the lens and tilting my head down in profile. The White dress took on gorgeous texture in the slightly cool-toned ambient light, and the feathered wings gained wonderful depth once softly blurred in the background.

Truthfully, shooting a character adorned with wings and a halo is physically demanding, especially while navigating the venue to scout angles and repeatedly striking poses. Because both the wings and the halo were securely anchored to my body, my range of motion was restricted, requiring greater precision in micro-expressions and hand placement. For instance, how my fingers embraced the star pillow or the subtle angle of tucking in my chin directly influenced the final shot. The pillow could also easily obstruct garment details, so every pose adjustment required close communication with the photographer to calibrate the frame.

During post-processing, I strove to preserve the natural ambient lighting of the venue without drastically altering color tones, merely lifting the image clarity and translucence slightly. Because the venue lights carried a cooler tint, I made minor adjustments to the color balance to ensure a clean, cohesive look. Seeing the finished photos, the atmosphere completely aligned with my vision—a very rewarding creative endeavor. Both the garment details and prop textures were showcased wonderfully in this shoot. In convention photography, quickly adapting to ambient lighting and immersing oneself into character is an ongoing discipline for every cosplayer.
