[Rem cosplay] A lazy home-style convention photo set of Rem from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- - Image 1

Today I am sharing convention photos of Rem. Actually, wearing this version of Rem at a comic convention takes a bit of courage. After all, the inner outfit design is quite revealing, and coupled with the thick blue-and-grey striped plush coat on the outside, it is easy to sweat when walking around the venue. However, to recreate that fluffy and somewhat lazy home-style vibe, this bit of hardship is completely worth it. The convention venue is bustling with noise, and finding a relatively clean camera position in such a noisy and complexly lit open environment really requires a lot of energy.
To match this slightly boudoir-inspired attire, I specially chose a venue featuring a huge white plush carpet for the shoot. The dark background forms a sharp visual contrast with the pure white carpet, helping focus the viewer's attention more on the character herself. The iconic short blue hair and pink X-shaped hairpin on top of the head are the soul of the look. I carefully adjusted the angles to ensure the bangs wouldn't cover my eyes, while bringing out Rem's unique gentle yet slightly stubborn expression. The wig was meticulously trimmed and styled to ensure it maintains a perfect arc while walking and posing, without looking messy.
Speaking of shooting equipment, this time I used a Sony A7M5 paired with a 24-70gm2 lens. This combination performs extremely stably in complex lighting environments like conventions. The 24-70 focal length is very flexible in slightly restricted indoor venues, allowing me to capture full-body actions and leg lines from a bit further away—such as when kneeling on the plush carpet to showcase the texture of the black stockings—while also taking facial close-ups using the 50 or 70 end when standing very close. The wide aperture ensures pure image quality even in low-light environments, and combined with the fill lights in the venue, the colors of the raw photos straight out of the camera were already very pleasant. We added a softbox slightly to the front-side of the main light source, so the light transition is extremely soft, perfectly retaining skin texture while enriching the details of the black clothing and stockings. In post-processing, the contrast between blue and black was mainly enhanced, and the surrounding edges were slightly darkened to make the overall tone better fit the character's atmosphere.
During the shoot, I deliberately brought along this white lop-eared bunny plush doll as a matching prop, placing it nearby to add a touch of home-style cuteness. For poses, I tried curling my body up inside the thick plush coat, leaning forward slightly to look at the lens. This not only showcases body curves, but also allows the black camisole and the white lace along the edges of the inner wear to be exposed just right, pairing with sheer black stockings to strike a balance between purity and a hint of sexiness. When adjusting the kneeling posture, the center of gravity should be shifted back slightly to better display the slender lines of the legs, while using the plush coat to partially cover and create a sense of shimmering, peek-a-boo layering.
The smooth production of this set of photos is inseparable from the photographer's patient guidance. Under the limited conditions of the convention, we quickly set up a small scene and captured very natural states. Sometimes for a specific gaze or hand gesture, we would try repeatedly until we found the absolute most perfect moment. Every time I cosplay, it's a re-understanding of the character; whether it's the clothing details or the nuance of expressions, I hope to get as close as possible to the image in my mind. This home-style outfit with slight sexual elements chosen this time was also an attempt to explore a more everyday, more private side of the character beyond the traditional maid outfit. I hope everyone likes this set of convention photos, and I look forward to bringing more different attempts to everyone at future comic conventions.
