The convention photos of this Genshin Impact Lynette look are finally finished. I decided to cosplay her because I've always loved her quiet, slightly mysterious persona. The costume was custom-tailored, and the leather material feels wonderfully substantial in hand. The inner white blouse features ruffled pleats at the collar and cuffs, layered under a structured black leather corset with side zippers, where the leather peplum and blue-and-white striped lining create distinct, dimensional tiers. Multiple brown leather straps and metallic buckles wrap around the arms, with a circular blue crest framed in gold affixed to the left arm. To complete the silhouette, I paired it with sheer black pantyhose and lace-up high-heeled black booties, which visually elongated my body proportions.
The wig was a silvery grey, with the bangs hand-dyed with a soft touch of pale teal. The cat ear props on the crown were anchored with a headband, reinforced with anti-slip silicone lining on the inside to keep them from sliding off while walking around the convention all day. The side braid of the wig took extensive hairspray to set; while time-consuming, it remained rock-solid during shooting. For makeup, I wore blue contact lenses, blended a hint of reddish hue into the eye makeup, and drew the small cross mark beneath the right eye using a waterproof liquid liner. Given the outdoor convention heat and sweat, setting powder had to be packed on extra generously.
The shoot took place at CPG Comic Convention amidst heavy crowds. To find cleaner backgrounds, we moved to an open road outside the venue. The first shot looking back over my shoulder was one of my favorites—it clearly framed the back lines and the long, plush tail. The tail has a flexible wire armature inside, allowing me to bend it into dynamic curves without it drooping limply. The photographer framed the shot to preserve the clean lines of the Black stockings and boots, set against soft bokeh of green foliage for a crisp look.
In terms of posing, I took cues from everyday magician gestures. The shot balancing on one leg while tossing the top hat into the air required repeated candid attempts. Because the hat's brim is wide, it tilted easily mid-flight, demanding constant fine-tuning of my hand release while the photographer synchronized high shutter speeds to capture both the flying hat and hand gesture cleanly. Other poses, like kneeling on one knee while raising the hat or lifting the skirt hem while bowing slightly, all aimed to channel her graceful stage presence. Wearing sheer stockings and boots made kneeling or walking across the asphalt quite slippery, so maintaining an engaged core was essential throughout.
Wearing this outfit was surprisingly intricate. The shirt, corset, and leather skirt in the back, combined with the arm straps and accessories, were impossible to manage alone and required my handler's help to tighten the rear buckles. The leather corset was form-fitting to the point where deep breaths felt restrictive, and I had to stay vigilant while walking so as not to step on the skirt hem or tail. While the boots worked wonders for leg lines, a full day of pounding the pavement at the convention definitely left my feet sore.
The shoot was physically taxing—navigating the noisy convention grounds and staying in character while onlookers watched took focus. Fortunately, the natural daylight was fantastic; as the late afternoon sun softened, the specular highlights across the Black stockings and leather took on a gorgeous texture on camera, needing only subtle color grading in post to match canon colors. Cosplay isn't just about putting on clothes; it's about immersing yourself into the character's mental state. As a magician's assistant, Lynette's movements demand a nimble yet precise rhythm. In both gaze and posture, I preserved a quiet, aloof composure that created an appealing contrast with the structured, restrictive wardrobe. We explored numerous dynamic poses for this convention return set, and I'm deeply grateful to my photographer and handler for making this piece come together.
