[Rem cosplay] Poolside Side-Turn Glance Pose reference: How to Shoot for Longer-Looking Legs

This sailor suit paired with white over-the-knee socks, combined with a side glance looking back over the shoulder, perfectly shows off leg lines and the tail, making it ideal for shooting in the water.

As for the outfit styling, the top features a white short-sleeved shirt with a navy blue collar, and the bottom pairs navy athletic shorts with White stockings. Under water, because of water absorption and slight translucency, White stockings actually make legs look slimmer than when dry, though they cling tighter and shift easily, so it's important to ensure the edges fit snugly before getting into the pool. The cat ears and hairpins were secured with waterproof adhesive so they wouldn't slip during movement in the water. However, because of its large volume, the tail became heavy once soaked; posing required a bit of conscious effort to control its direction floating on the water surface so it wouldn't look awkward in frame.

On set, we chose several pose variations for reference. The first set involves raising one arm high while lightly placing the other in front of the chest, a pose that visually elongates overall proportions and narrows the waistline. The second set is standing sideways and glancing back at the camera—keeping the back straight, shifting weight to the back leg, and extending the front leg slightly forward beautifully highlights fair legs and hip curves. Meanwhile, the arc of the tail acts as a leading line that enriches the composition. The third set is sitting inside a swim ring with hands folded in prayer; this pose looks gentle and sweet, but be mindful not to sink too deep into the ring—bend the knees slightly to let the legs extend outwards, fully revealing the edges of the White stockings and shorts.

The water was quite chilly on the day of the shoot and the sunlight was strong. To ensure facial clarity, the photographer intentionally raised the shutter speed and lowered the contrast slightly. Since other visitors were in the background, bokeh blur was used to separate them, keeping the main subject clean. For this kind of styling, comfortable facial expressions are key: avoid forced pouts, as a natural slight smile gives the eyes much more storytelling depth. My favorite shot in this set is the sideways glance over the shoulder; it not only highlights the costume details but also gives the body a graceful sense of extension. Water reflections made the blue hair appear even more translucent, creating rich color contrast against the pink hairpin and red wristband. After spending the entire day in the water with soaked White stockings, it was certainly tiring, but testing multiple angles repeatedly was well worth it to capture graceful poses.
