That jasmine rain in Jiangnan is the spring I renewed for you. This Traditional Chinese style cosplay photoshoot of Luo Tianyi was conceived entirely around this poetic imagery.

For this shoot, we set up purple-and-pink ambient background lights in the studio, aiming to craft a dreamlike, ethereal tone. For the wig, I specifically trimmed blunt straight bangs and long face-framing sidelocks; the silver-gray hue paired with a golden crescent moon hair accessory atop the head, embellished with pink-and-white floral ornaments and dangling tassels, faithfully recreated that harmonious fusion between classical grace and 2D aesthetics.

In terms of makeup, the eyes were the primary focus this time. Large-diameter green contact lenses paired with dense false lashes and well-defined aegyo sal gave the gaze enhanced vivacity and piercing clarity. For the lips, I selected a soft peach pink that wasn't overly heavy, perfectly complementing the overall fresh and airy palette. The sheer clarity of the makeup required an impeccably clean base foundation under the purplish-red lights, so I refined the nose contouring and highlights to ensure facial three-dimensionality.

The layers of the costume are exceptionally rich. The inner layer is a black tube top edged with white lace trims, while the outer blue mandarin-collar capelet features subtle damask patterns, with golden frog button fasteners at the collar serving as a visual highlight. The detachable sheer purple tulle sleeves along the arms not only added volume, but also made hand gestures appear remarkably light and graceful on camera. A blue bowknot and golden winged ornaments at the waist cinched the visual center of gravity, while the tiered layers of pink and purple tulle along the skirt cast a gentle, delicate sheen under the studio lights.

The primary prop was a translucent Round fan embroidered with pink roses and white blossoms, finished with dangling tassels at the handle. For the posing design, I referenced classical dance movements—such as half-masking the face with the fan or holding it aloft in a side-profile stance, paired with occasional direct glances into the lens—to channel a demure yet spirited demeanor.

Shooting a cosplay that bridges traditional Chinese aesthetics with 2D style tests one's command over minute details most of all. Whether it's the texture of fabrics under shifting light and shadow or the glint reflecting off the contact lenses from various angles, everything required continuous adjustment before the camera. Throughout this set, I explored numerous fan-holding gestures and body angles—such as resting one hand on the hip while holding the fan with the other, or cradling the fan before my chest with both hands—hoping these varied postures would convey richer emotional layers. Bringing the rains of Jiangnan and the blossoms of spring to life in this manner was truly a deeply satisfying creative experience.
